"Happy Happy Joy Joy: The Ren and Stimpy Story"
Brilliant. Ok ano it's a documentary, but it's movie length.
Loved watching the Ren and Stimpy show when I was younger. Beautifully crafted mental cartoons

"Schtimpy, you eeeejoit!" HAHA! I haven't even thought about them in probably 25-30yrs, lol. Especially early on they had some great and ptretty daring stuff for the time, but defintely got toned down over time.

Betamax was so much better quality than VHS... don't know what the situation was like here, but growing up in Australia we had one and the problem was that there was so few movies that would be available compared to VHS.

I loved that film. Once of those films I think you need to see at the right age.

Also feels like something that can be turned into a tv series. There's a whole Warriors universe that the film touches on but a TV series could really flesh out.

A prequel of sorts about the other gangs leading up to the meeting could be decent and not really harm the movies story. There was talk of a reboot a few years back but I don’t know if that’s still happening or not.

The book where they got much of the source material from is well worth a read…but it’s pretty dark and the gang members are much younger than the 30yr old Warriors we’re used to from the film.

First time I tried to watch that was after a really heavy weekend and I had to switch it off, was absolutely frying my head.

It is a good film though, I watched it again shortly after when in a better place.

The night before last we watched what might actually be the worst film I've ever seen in my life - The Lighthouse (2019).

What a load of pretentious *. The plot follows a lighthouse keeper and his assistant (played by Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattinson) in the 1890s, isolated on a remote island for 4 weeks and their slow decent into madness as caused by their isolation. It's an absolute slog to get through.

It leans heavily on being black and white while using eeries sounds and eerie imagery to draw you in - the type of film that leaves it to your interpretation if what you see if what happened type of thing). Utter, utter *.

The only saving grace is that it truly was an acting masterclass by both. Don't watch this film. Please.

It was directed with David Eggers. If you want to watch a horror of his, go watch The Witch instead (another tricky watch but with a much better pay off).

Some of these are still on the tv broadcasts.

I remember the deleted opening scene from ‘The Warriors’ from my first viewing in 2002 on Sky Digital - they were showing loads of gang movies for the release of ‘Gangs of New York’.

The Promised Land on iPlayer. Danish film about a captain from the army in 1755 trying to grow crops on land that had never grown before. It's a battle against the elements, class snobbery, outlaws and politics. Well written, acted and directed with good characters. 8/10 for me.
