Don't know whether Dynamo Zagreb conceding a late equalizer is good for us or not?

 

We dropped from 2nd to 20th in table in 1 game!
Still, anything better than 25th is fine

 

To be fair Aston Villa always play like this, they play this way against Brighton, Nottingham Forest, Arsenal.

Emery has always played a kind of tight countering style and done well in Europe and big games but probably not suited to managing the top teams who need to win every game. Struggled at Arsenal and Spartak Moscow and even lost the League with PSG. More suited to Sevilla, Villarreal, Valencia and Villa who like to qualify for Europe and compete in the Cups.

I'd say a good result..

They've got achievable points away at Salzburg and Bratislava. Then Dortmund and us at home. Arsenal away and Milan at home..

They won't be picking up many wins in those fixtures so a good thing I'd say that they didn't beat a good side ans get some momentum..

I reckon we'll likely finish above them..

 

Any draws.or big losses will only help us in this size of table we r still in the top 25 shows you what scoring lots goals get u

 

I hope so. I didn't have much hope for the Dortmund and Atalanta games, but I didn't expect that last night. Our opposition will look at that and set up to hit us on the break. Unless we become more pragmatic.

 

We can hurt these sides as well though..

We definitely need to tweak it a bit and get Carter-Vickers back also..

Our midfield is a huge problem at this level.

They are all the same profile.

We don’t have CMs who can sit behind the ball, cut off passing lanes, protect the back 4 and win duels.

At CL level they are not only having players who are technically better, they are also facing athletes who over power them.

Rodgers said he wanted to add power to the team, he’s not done that at all IMO. We got bullied last night.

 

A bit of pragmatism and we're well capable of more. Mostly because of the luck we got in the draw.

I'm still absolutely scunnered and embarrassed at that * last night, but we can win games if Rodgers' ego allows for it.

If we don't make the playoffs with the golden chance we've been given with this draw then I don't even know where to go. It would be almost inexcusable.

 

We have 3, we should be capable of beating Brugge and Young Boys at Parkhead. We should be capable of a point or three vs Zagreb.


Just judging on a purely no shocks happening level. I think Villa are beyond us, I think Atalanta are as well. Leipzig probably will be but are one of they teams us playing at our best should be able to do something, a point or three again, but I don’t think we’re capable of playing like that against a team that has better players than us.

I think we can do what we expect to teams we have more quality than or are of a similar quality. We can’t against teams that have a better quality of player in them I think. BR has always been one of those managers, he’ll beat the teams he should beat, and will do it well and consistently. Teams that on paper we shouldn’t, then it generally doesn’t happen. And for a team operating in Scotland it happens worse than it would when he had good players in Leicester or great players in his Liverpool team.

 

Dinamo are in * we should be able to beat them.

Play open V Brugge, Dinamo, YB & probably Leipzig seeing as we're at home.

But jaysus sake cop on V Atalanta & Villa, defence is as big a part of the game as scoring.
