His tactics clearly failed. If you're going to play like that you need to look like scoring for 90 minutes.

If he doesn't tweak it massively we're gonna get * in most of our remaining games.

Those are domestic competitions though and i'm not taking away the positive style of football that made that happen. But the Celtic way clearly gets us battered in Europe.

If he isn’t going to learn from that and we keep getting these types of performances and results, I’d rather he walked at the end of the season.

How * hard is it for us to find a decent, pragmatic manager who can have us win domestically and put up a fight in Europe?

His excuses don't wash when you see others sides with lesser budgets than us getting results consistently in Europe.

The Huns and their manager who we love to laugh at are unbeaten in 5 away from home in Europe. I doubt we will ever see that record.

Something is badly wrong with our approach.

Basically need to sign Davie Moyes on an 8 game European only contract.

If you look at any of our decent results in Europe in the last 20 years they've virtually all been by being defensive.

Strachan's teams were brutal technically but we were dogged and got results against the likes of Man Utd & AC Milan.

Lennon's team v Barcelona (at home obviously and an injury time goal away from a point at the Nou Camp) & Lazio

The football 'purists' in that time who had a system and stuck to inflexibly have seen our worst doings. Rodgers & Ange and even Delia we got battered in the Europa under him.

The best managers know how to win ugly. We are basically laying our stall out as win beautifully or don't win at all. Admirable for some but infuriating for the majority.

If we get embarrassed again this year I think it's better he left.

Wrap up the double/treble, thank him for coming back and continuing our domestic dominance, but get a manger in who knows how to mix it up in Europe.

I'm seriously close to checking out of these games completely, unless there is a massive shift in our approach and/or mentality. If Rodgers isn't the guy who's going to bring that, get someone else who can.

    Needs backed.

The summer wasn't enough. Far from it.

It was slow, lethargic and eventually haphazard in getting Trusty and Valle done.

Defensively, for how many years now?, we are appalling.
We are a team that builds from back and uses our defense to start our attacks.
That works domestically. It doesn't against the big boys.
Why we keep going in to European campaigns under strength in that department baffles me.

If it's not utter cross being found out, it's signing players so late in a window, that even a month later and two UCL games down, two defensive players aren't bedded in.

    Whos bright idea was that?

So aye, he needs backed. Because clearly he's not gonna change his style here. Which I'm not overly being critical of. But as a club, we need to back the guy where his squad is weakest

    Sort it out. Someone.

    What’s not measured about it?

We didn’t just lose. None of us would have been upset if we simply just lost.

We were humiliated yet again in Europe and Rodgers quite clearly hasn’t learned any lessons from the previous number of shaggings.

Everyone should be * livid at that display.

Tbf, I would happily accept a more restrained style domestically if a Moyes type actually made us difficult to beat in Europe.

We can't go toe to toe with teams at this level and expect results. It really is as simple as that.

That doesn't mean we need to park the bus either.

They played through our press tonight like we played through St Johnstones in that video that's doing the rounds.

Their players aren't going to have the fear of * in them with kyogo or Maeda running at them, they'll play round them with ease and be running at our back 4 within seconds.

We have to learn and adapt. There's a time and a place. If we do the same against Atalanta it'll be the exact same outcome.

It's mental, Gerrard, Giovanni and Beale are all far worse managers than Ange and Rodgers, yet they've all some really good results in Europe, Gerrard beat Porto, Galatasaray etc, Giovanni pumped Dortmund away and got them to a final, and Beale actually beat Betis away. Even Clement had an away win and 2 Draws, I doubt we could go to Benfica and draw, and were miles ahead of the huns.

We've had two managers in a row who were more than good enough domestically but miles off it in Europe. With Ange you knew he'd never change his approach and my main gripe with his tenure was Europe. With Rodgers, I was hoping he'd have learnt from last time but it was the exact same, no difference.

The Atalanta game is massive for me, I'm not expecting a win but if we play the exact same way and lose in a similar manager, I feel like Rodgers will lose a lot of goodwill he's managed to bring back.

I must admit I didn't expect the gulf to be as big as it was; but like you, I was worried about this exact reaction.
