Setting up with him as a number 6 is basically surrendering the midfield in Europe.. which has been apparent for years.

We've never replaced Brown, nevermind Wanyama.

Just feels like a redundant point now, He's a fantastic player but playing him as a CDM in Europe is just asking for trouble.

Fourth season in a row that he's now started as a 6 at this level, despite having very little physicality or aerial presence, the prime example of a modern day 6 is Rodri, look at him and then look at McGregor, not even talking about ability, just look at the difference in size

It's all very confusing from a Brendan perspective because at Leicester he played Ndidi in that position, a very physical player, so why he thinks McGregor is suited to that role, particularly in Europe, is beyond mystifying, can only put it down to sentiment and dressing room politics with McGregor being the captain, it is without doubt the definition of insanity continuing to play McGregor at this level and expecting different results each time

Anyone who thinks he’s a number 6 is off their * head.

He’s at his best attacking the other team’s goal and creating/scoring goals.

He offers zero protection to the defence and never has.

Not many complaints when he played there when we won 5-1 in the first game of the CL.

He's been excellent this season but needs to take this one on the chin. Awful performance.

Against quite possibly the worst team most of us have seen at CL level?

    Don’t kid yourself.

The full midfield have been embarrassingly bad tonight Dortmund haven’t had to do much to be 5-1 up in this game. The first goal Gittens runs straight through the middle of our team and no one tries to stop him he even took 2 or 3 poor touches.

The fact no one has went and took the job to go get close to Brandt is a disgrace.

He's finished at the top level of European football. Been evident for a few years now to those without their heads in the sand and was evident during the Euros too.

This is why it’s * mental when some people try to convince themselves that he could play for any team in Europe and not look out of place.

    He’s a good player but * me.

Why would Brendan have used a physical player like Ndidi as his 6 at Leicester if he didn't believe in having a physical player in that position of the pitch?

No idea, because he could afford one? Because we don’t need one for the SPFL?

He's never been a decent dm, if you want to call his position that. Domestically he fills a role we need because we do that little defensively, so he fills the void between defence and midfield on the ball.

In the SPFL he's class at what he does but in the CL we need someone that can do what he does, but also actually contribute defensively. Actually thought Bernardo would have been a better fit in Europe but reading comments on him tonight, maybe not yet.

He's a 10 for me but Rogic owned that rope when he came into the team and has rarely gotten a chance to play there.

Obviously brilliant as an 8 but he has that composure from distance that he'd excel further forward.

For me tonight has absolutely nothing to do with this defensive midfielder * folk keep going on about and everything to do with the fact he’s just been * on the night.

Making basic mistakes left, right and centre.

Well we clearly need one for Europe and have done since Wanyama so why wouldn't he have signed one by now to replace McGregor in that position?

    One word, sentiment
