I think the DM thing is a lazy excuse. Cal has had a few shockers but DM or not we need everyone on it to get any joy. So it's not the fix everyone seems to think.

 

We will get chances tonight, if we can cut out any daft mistakes or red cards etc I think we’ve got a decent enough chance.

 

It's not just height and pace. He also lacks strength. Izzy lacked height even more than Taylor does and although he wasn't as slow as Taylor, his pace was pretty average IMO. He was a strong little *, though. Not easy to push around.

 

Having Engles and Bernardo alongside McGregor will help the fact we don’t have a genuine defensive midfielder. In a game like tonight and away at Atalanta though, I think we would be far better off with a Wanyama type player in there to just sit in front of the back 4. Rodgers does have us far better organise than Ange did however, and we now have the players to play his system, unlike last season at this stage.

 

TBH, rightly or wrongly, I'm personally a lot more worried about Taylor than about Scales.

I think Ange had us well-organised too, mate.

 

Will they play Gittens left, Adeyemi right and Guirassy through the middle?

Adeyemi will be a tough opponent for Scales and Taylor as he is lightning quick although I don't think he's much of a dribbler where as Gittens is a dribbler but Johnston is usually fine whoever he plays.

Sometimes guys in our League get running in behind Taylor and Scales and cause a problem but they've not really play against a guy as quick as Adeyemi who is like Frimpong or that, they'll not get near him.

I can imagine him getting into a lot of good positions down the right wing and playing low balls across into the box for Guirassy and Gittens coming in at the back for tap ins, Johnston and Trusty will be all over the place at times if that happens. Then even Brandt and Gross arriving at the edge of the box for shots which they are good at so McGregor will get swarmed in there also.

If they play well then they will have us scrambling about at the back.

We are untested against these type of players also mostly, Bratislava was like a team of Liam Scales', the huns even have no pace up front, last season Atletico and Lazio didn't really have much pace either.

 

Their front three are lightening quick..

So are ours too tbf.. should be goals

 

I honestly think Taylor is going to get ripped a new one tonight. The one saving grace is that I thought the same against Bratislava and was totally wrong. Hopefull I'm wrong again tonight.

 

Hatate always plays the big games. Fully expect him to start this one.

Would be a real big moment for Bernardo if he gets the nod.

Aye thats what I was just thinking there after I wrote that.

We are completely untested against pace really.

Lazio had Immobile, Pedro, Atletico had Morata, Griezmann, the huns don't have any pace really and Bratislava's team was all like tall guys built like Idah, Scales and Rogic. Feyenoord had that big Gimenez and I feel like playmaker types around him.

We've not come up a team with pace really for probably 2 seasons Mudryk, Vinicius, Valverde and Leipzig had a lot pace in their team.

 

And the Huns tbf..

 

Anyway let's put any negativity to the side..

Apparently Gittens and Sabitzer are injured?

If so their only real speed merchants would be Adeyemi or Malen coming in..

Both more want to be 9's than wide men..
