Think we will put up a better fight but reality is we are playing a team that nearly went all the way last year in the CL. I always say it's better playing a team on form and catching them off guard than a wounded animal who will take someone to the cleaners. A draw would be magnificent.

And we have played nobody of note at all this season, pre season aside. This is at least 4 levels up from bratislava

I think if we go into this game with a positive attitude and belief in ourselves, then we will give them a game to remember.

It will also give Brendan a barometer on the progress made so far, and where we may have to strengthen again in January.

Very concerned and realistic about this. Trusty will probably be found out playing on the right hand side, to be expected. Scales and Taylor will struggle with their movement. Going forward we should do ok, i honestly think 3-1 them. I want us to play our football and not try anything new that may make it even more difficult for us. I’d take any positive performance as a sign we are moving in the correct direction.

Being reported CCV wasn’t on the plane to Germany, we just have to trust in Trusty

I'm really optimistic for this one. We have enough to cause them problems and dare I say we could even cause them a nightmare.
Agreed, I think a lot of effort has been put into coaching us to win back the ball and then do something with it, in other words counter attacking which is so effective and the crowd react. Winning the ball in midfield can make a huge difference.
I'm really confident that we can get the result here, it wont be easy but at our best we can put on a show

Doubt it. He's only got a sare toe mate, even if he's no playing he'll be there with the team.

Lawell needs to save money on the plane fair, he's still struggling on the prices he had to pay in the summer

Given the break we have after the weekends game it made sense to not play CCV as much as we would have liked to. Our champions league campaign will not be won or lost based on what happens tomorrow. We need to get CCV back to 100%.

Didn't realise Dortmund finished 5th in the league last season, but Italy and Germany both have 5 teams due to the new format, as the highest 2 leagues coefficient.

It is a * but what an opportunity for Trusty to show what he can do at this level.

I'll be watching from behind the couch.

I think it's OK to get excited. I just hope folk aren't too negative if we are well beaten. We have a tendency to swing from one extreme to the other IMO.

At the end of the day, these games are not what we should judge our progress on. We judge our progress based on the derbies and the games against Bratislava, Young Boys and Zagreb. If we can win the majority of those, we'll have a fantastic season regardless of what happens against the big boys.

Like everyone else, I hope we can give Dortmund a game. That goes without saying. I'm just saying that if we don't, I won't be to despondent.

Didn't you hear, mate? Trusty, Scales and AJ all missed the flight and we're playing Ralston, Welsh and Nawrocki. :fear:

I think there is a degree of realism given the quality of the opposition as regards the result, but for me the key thing is how we perform as a team, want to see us play our own game with high tempo and confidence, and not sit back and fear the opposition.

The auld saying play the game and not the occasion.

Agree with this the games v Young Boys, Brugge, Zagreb and RB at home will be the barometer ties.
