Luke McCowan says he burst into tears when he found out his move to Celtic was a reality.

The midfielder joined the Hoops from Dundee on transfer deadline day after weeks of speculation over the £1m move. He was announced right at the death and has settled in already, scoring against Hearts in just his second appearance. As a boyhood Celtic fan it was a lifelong dream fulfilled for McCowan and speaking at a JD Sports fan event, he opened up on the day the move came to fruition

And he says when Tony Docherty pulled him into his office to tell him, he couldn't help but break down in tears. McCowan said: "I knew about the interest going back for pre-season. I didn't know what to say at that time, I was hoping it would happen, but you don't think about it, you just try and do the best you can for the club you're at.

He told me 'I'd found out before training, then I saw you diving into tackles, I wanted to pull you out.' But he was really good in breaking that news to me. And before you know it, I was speaking to Gordon Strachan and people heavily involved with the club. I wouldn't say it went smoothly, my heart was going like mad, but we managed to get it done

He is actually pretty similar in style to Calmac.

Deserved a goal. That pre-assist was beautiful.

Thought he was outstanding slotted right into cover McGregor's goal threat.

I was watching him off the ball, constant scanning just like McGregor does.

His vision was great and his passing crisp.

He's going to be invaluable giving McGregor some much needed rest.

    Deserved a goal. Tremendous save.

Couple ropey ones when he first came on but after that, was very good..

Biggest compliment was his ball over the top was like McGregor still being on. Then unlucky with the one off the post..

That’s a cracking ball over the top.

That Idah goal genuinely looked like prime Barca from start to finish (including that beautiful flick from the Barca grad Valle)

He's a lot better than I thought. That * pass leading up to the 6th was brilliant and he was really unlucky not to score himself too.

Seriously impressive cameo, as far as 5th choice centre mids go they don’t get much better. He’ll get plenty of game time and starts as we get deeper into the season.

Scarily similar to McGregor in the way he moves on the ball.

The ball over the top was a beauty. And his shot off the post was so unlucky. Great touch and his finish was lovely.

    He's a bit of alright ain't he.

Keep applying himself in training and then imposing himself on a game when he is given minutes and I would say he could be a dark horse to watch for when it comes to taking a spot within the midfield and then leaving guys like Bernardo and Hatate fighting for a spot on the bench as Engels will likely start most games along side McGregor

I think playing away helped him a lot today. Wasn't as 110% eager trying to impress and just played nice and relaxed.
