Stayed in los zocos in Costa Teguise.
Great hotel if you’ve got kids, spotless and great food also big rooms.
Tons of things to keep the brats entertained
But if it’s just for 2, I’d go somewhere else, we done a last minute thing so it was all that was available
And on the plus side, there’s a great Celtic pub called the keg and kilt in the square, a real Celtic pub not one of these fake Irish pubs that are everywhere

    Me too but from Wales.

Transport, hotel, food & beer and it's over £500 a game.

Better than sitting on the beach though :50:

Going round Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia in November for a few weeks.

Exact places are Siem Reap, Bangkok, Phuket, Ho Chi Minh and Hoi An

If anybody has any recommendations then it would be much appreciated :)

Also need somewhere in Siem Reap to watch our game v Kilmarnock on 9th Nov if anybody has any ideas - not managed to locate a CSC or actual Irish boozer (not a kid on one) yet

Went there the other year for a fortnight.

Spent most of it in Gweedore but some in Donegal Town and Letterkenny.

    Where you going?

Hoi An is very cool. I would stay there and not in Danang like we did, if you’re considering it. The place is worth a visit but lacking character and the beach isn’t as good as it looks in photos. Get the Grab app and use the promo codes as they’ll save you a ton on rides in Vietnam. Public transport is difficult and almost non-existent. Also haggling is accepted. Obviously it’s ridiculous to haggle over 50p, but a lot of the touristy places will start very, very high and try to feel you out.

On the Thailand side Bangkok is great and you can’t really go wrong basing yourself anywhere near the Skytrain or MRT. We’ve stayed at Ratchadamri the last few times which is handy for CentralWorld / MBK etc. You used to be able to get all sorts of bargains at MBK and they’re still there, but you have to look for them. The city is far less seedy than implied in the media (Phuket is far worse imo). Unless you go looking for it you won’t really find it. Also use the Grab app in Thailand, saves a lot of hassle over taxi fares.

Phuket I didn’t really like. Quite seedy, especially in Patong (my wife is Asian and was asked how much she would cost by some fat whale of an English guy. This was at 10 in the morning when she was eating breakfast and she just about decked him), very busy and the beaches are quite dirty. The more time you can spend on the outer islands the better. Phi Phi, Bamboo Island are brilliant, but absolutely mobbed with tourists. I am one so I’m not going to complain about it, but the numbers really are crazy.

Koh Lanta is quieter - we’re there in November ourselves and are considering it.

The most underrated destination in Thailand is Koh Kood. It’s stunning, but a lot more difficult to get to. Koh Chang is nice as well, and tends to be more popular among Thais.

Been to Bangkok a few times, most recently this July.

We always stay around the Asok station in a hotel called Galleria 10. It’s cheap, clean and has a decent rooftop bar, but most importantly it’s brilliantly located. Some great local restaurants right outside on Sukhumvit Road as well. Above 11 is probably the best rooftop bar I’ve been to anywhere, and is only a few minutes walk from the hotel.

Bangkok is really cool city. It’s actually a nice intro to Asian mega-cities if you haven’t been one before, as it’s easy to escape the hustle when you want to. I hate shopping generally, but it’s worth checking out Siam Paragon/centre and Terminal 21, if only for the food courts. Makes you realise how crap ours are in comparison.

Bangkok is outrageous really. Everything is so easy and convenient. So easy to eat well anytime of the day or night. Feels safe, people are polite and friendly.

Hoi An is obviously a very different vibe, but beautiful at night. I spent a couple of days there and it was probably enough, although I’d go back and see it again.

Agree on the Bangkok seediness. I’m
fairly certain you could get anything you want in Bangkok, provided you could pay for it, but overall it’s always felt very safe and family friendly.

I realise a lot of it will be a bit of a show for tourists, but Thai’s are probably the happiest, friendliest nationality I’ve come across.

Currently in Siem Reap Cambodia. Bit mental our jerseys are front and centre of shops in South East Asia (even if they are fake). Massive club.

    As you were
