You can see McGregor mouthing "it's up to you" to Reo on the unique angle goals clip. BR also said it was Reo's decision to let Engels take the pen. Probably just to give Engels the chance to open his account with us.

I sit behind that goal and while the ref was at var monitor there was a bit of a debate or confusion. Looked to me that there wasn't a designated penalty taker, Taylor even went over to Rodgers during it.

Mcgregor seemed to take charge of it on the pitch.

Cracking pen tho so hopefully that's Engels on them going forward

Would be suprised if he starts midweek ahead of Bernardo

Didn't like his comments last week when left out by Japan about not being good enough. Confidence has maybe took a dent by being * about by that * of a manager

Rodgers said afterwards, Reo was no1 and Engels no2.. and gave credit to Reo for giving it up..

Odd, I took it the other way in that he is taking responsibility, not blaming others, and is going to work to improve his game and show them he is good enough for the NT. It was quite a mature response I thought.

I'm not taking much from his performance yesterday, he and Maeda were both under par but after a long hall flight on Wednesday I was expecting that from them to be honest. I thought they would both have been on the bench at KO.

Penalty takers should always be decided before they set foot on the park.

Any doubt or debate as to who is hitting it, regardless if it’s amicable or not is never a good look, and just puts extra pressure on the guy who eventually hits it.

Probably just bad timing, I liked how it worked out.

Engels maybe only trained 1 day with the team before the break so he's not going to walk in barely knowing who anycunt is saying "who takes the penalties here as i'll take them". Then even if he trained 2/3 times before this game half the squad wasn't there including Hatate or Idah who it seems are the penalty takers.

I thought it worked out well, Engels went for it showing on the park "i'll take it" and seen what happened and by showing the confidence then got to take it, thats what you want from your penalty taker. Not like he hung about for someone else to get the ball and then tried to take it off them.

He looked a really assured penalty taker to me as well, you'd think he has took 30 before, the way he stood holding the ball until he was told to take it. A lot of people panic and place the ball then stand there hands on hips waiting for 1+ minute, where as it was like he was experienced and thought to hold the ball in his hands until he could kick it. Showed some sort of planning and routine.

They were decided. Reo was the designated taker

    Aye fair enough.

I just assumed it was something that would be covered pre match alongside the other set pieces.

To be honest I was glad when Reo have the ball to Engels as Reo had been having a poor game

At the time I was thinking leave it to Engels as his pens would be an unknown quantity to Gordon
Then i remembered he doesn’t save pens anyway!!!

Was it the fans who already left that said it to you or the ones that stayed behind to return the applause back to the team that want us to stop it?

For one set it makes no difference to them, for the other it's kinda why they stayed behind.

Point taken, I have seen younger fans myself get a great thrill out of getting a wave from player, Manager etc

People need to stop making excuses for him. Needs to pull his finger out of his * * and start performing.

Apparently it’s his dream to play in the precious EPL. Nevermind that *, start performing for Celtic especially in Europe and then maybe he will get his wish.

EPL ain't gonna happen for him. I don't think he has the right mentality to be consistent over an extended period. He's had periods of sulking here and majorly fades in and out of form, literally from one game to the next. His recent comments when away with Japan, although on the face of it self reflective are for me negative & almost like another wee tantrum. We'll see.
