I was going to mention this too actually.

I think it’s important for the support to remember even given his fee, he is still only 20 and much of that fee is based on potential rather than how he will perform right now.

He might come in and blow us away right away or he might take some time and develop into the role. It’s important not to look at the fee too much.

There’s Idah coming in at £9.5m to play backup striker (for now). That’s a healthy attitude for us as a club.

 

I'm so glad they're coming in with a setup where they're not under that immediate pressure on them. It allows them room to adapt to the place and system and for Rodgers to get to work on coaching them - which he's brilliant at.

The sentiment is right but we are neither the support or the boardroom to be very patient with a record signing.

He should be judged like every other player regardless of the fee, same as Idah.

The reality is, as much as it’s a huge outlay for us, those fees are fairly modest for up and coming players for clubs competing in Europe nowadays.

Got to remember he’s still a young fella and he doesn’t dictate the transfer fee.

 

How the * did we manage to get him if he’s getting called up to that Belgium squad now? One of their strongest areas is central midfield. Surely if he’s that highly rated others must have had him on their radar in better leagues than ours. Especially for the fee…

 

Possibly he's confident about getting game time here, we probably pay more than most Bundesliga teams I'd imagine or can do. I think some of the bigger teams are also careful of spending after teams are getting pulled up on it and new loan rules means clubs can't just hoover up talent and loan out.

 

Don't think he did a lot on Sunday but he looks a real athlete and excited to see what he can bring to the squad.

 

He'll be off in year or 2 for 25-30M, that's the boards plan anyway, I hope he can stay much longer.

Outwith a few deals/teams there was definitely a bit of a shift this window, even counting the euros and everything being a bit less active while they ran it all seemed a bit subdued compared to previous years, there was the usual ramp up of activity towards deadline day but still not that many mental fees flying around.

 

Been watching some of his footage at Club NXT plays a lot like Konrad Laimer at Bayern. We could have won a watch with this kid tbh
