Was an O'Riley style masterclass I thought, intercepting, shielding the ball, passing sensational. Would just have been rounded off if he finished that chance instead of messing about.

Unbelievable today, looks a different beast after a good pre season. Also looks like he’s worked in his fitness.

Would have loved him to score the one he chopped back onto hid right..

He was excellent though and deserves to keep his place.. record signing waiting in the wings or not..

All that was missing today was for him to tuck that one away when he waltzed through their defence but didn’t quite get the shot right.

Overall he was brilliant, he has a great tactical discipline for someone so young of where to be on the pitch, he is neat and tidy in possessions, backs up team mates in and out of possession, can go past players and spot a pass as he showed at Ibrox last year.

It really is just getting first team game time, more experience and we have another top talent on our hands. He also has that knack of being good in big games.

    Great player.

The reaction to his signing was a bit mental tbh… more people concerned with his price tag than the fact we were signing a quality player. He doesn’t have the quality on the ball that Hatate has but he offers something entirely different. Could be a big player in Europe for us this season if he keeps improving.

He's going to be a key player for us in Europe. Him and Maeda pressing is going to cause teams some real problems.

It'll be interesting to see how a midfield 3 of him McGregor and Engels perform as I think that's what Rodgers' end game is as I still don't think he fully trusts Hatate for his system.

I would be shocked if Hatate was to drop out of this football team.

Bernardo offers pressing qualities nobody else including MOR has. He absolutely swarms all over players . Pressing from the front and middle will be key to how this team plays in Europe.

I wouldn't. I expect he'll be away in either January or the summer and will be getting phased out, unless our new midfielders turn out to be rank. I'm not saying I want him out the team, it's just what I suspect Rodgers is planning.

I think it's more a case Rodgers knows he will want to move on and knows we always look to sell at the right time, not a case of not trusting him in the system. While he is here , he will play. Agreed he will be gone by next summer but I really don't see him being phased out much like MOR wasnt. I think Engels will come on for Bernardo after he has worked himself into the ground for 70 mins pressing and harrying.

MoR wasn't phased out as there weren't really any options at that point, never mind the facts he was more consistent and works harder off the ball than Hatate. My take may be wrong, it's just the impression I get. We'll find out soon enough.

I think a lot of talk has been that Engels is the O'Riley replacement and Bernardo isn't quite up to the task (from dafties he's quality) but Hatate blows very hot and cold, and seems a bit more injury prone, I think it's more likely Bernardo stamps his place in the team and Engels pushes for Hatate's place if his form dips or he's out again and has to fight to get it back.

Oh no we have too many good CM's, how awful.:BR1:

Excellent player. Very physical as well.

Again it was mentioned about scales having competition but an £11m signing coming in will only spur this guy on.

People forgetting how much we struggled without Hatate last season and how performances and results picked up when he returned. He is crucial to us.

Defensively he is * unreal. On the ball too. Only thing is that real cutting creative spark, but what he offers you elsewhere more than makes up for it.

    Brilliant performance.
