I was lucky enough to live in Europe at that time and caught the first leg of the semi final against Real in the Bernabeu in April 1984. I went with another fella from Derry. We made last minute decision to get tickets (for Madrid end) on the morning of the match. I remember being interested partly because it was the time of the Goikoetxea/Maradona "controversy" and wanted to see The Butcher play in the flesh. Also wanted to support the Basques who were having a hard time in Spain just then. Added bonus was they played in our county colours. We arrived supporting Bilbao just before kick off and got upgraded to the more expensive seats as the game wasn't a sell out. Don't know if that was the tradition in Spain or not at the time but it worked out well for us. Bilbao won that leg 1-0 and as you say went on to lift the trophy. Enjoyed the game and I have to say although surrounded by Madrid fans, we encountered no hostility from them inside or outside the ground. It was a good memory. Have had a soft spot for Bilbao ever since.

 

Honestly I * love Jude Bellingham as a footballer, can’t remember another player like him at that age, he has everything to be a * great. The fact he’s went right into that dressing room and is the main man, how much a leader on the field he is and the one thing at Dortmund he didn’t really have in goalscoring, he’s the main threat for Real Madrid and it’s not just goals when things are good, the amount of late goals, winners, equalisers etc.

Pain in the * two of my favourite footballers to see in the world right now are English, Foden and Bellingham.

 

I hate the * for being * against the huns resulting in them being a baw hair away from winning the europa league.

 

He was by far the best player on the pitch they two games. The rest of his team let him down.

That’s actually when it cemented me really liking him as a player, Reus misplaced a panicked pass to him and he gave him a * rocket. Hummels shortly after dived in and he had to cover and he went off his head at him, Hummel’s apologising

18 year old desperately trying to uphold standards to two legends he’s playing with, not often you see that with young players.

Similar moment for me absolutely falling in love with Kieran Tierney, when Broony misplaced a pass to him and he went through him. Not another player at that time in, that team under Ronny would say a thing to Broony. And Broony * loved it, held up his hands in apology. That attitude can’t be taught.

 

He’s top notch mate, I’ve watched Madrid a few times this season and he’s a real match winner. Was my first time seeing that young lad yamal for barca though last night and my * what a * player, can’t believe he’s 16. He had camavinga on toast for the first 60 mins

 

That Atletico Club player Williams quite rightly complains about the racist abuse he received at the match.
However, after he scores he deliberately provokes that racist crowd.
Ref should have booked him for it. Idiot could have started a riot.

Espanyol just scored 2 in a minute to make it 2-1 to them on aggregate v Oviedo in La Liga play off, just before half time. Stadium is jumping now man.

I was surprised as well but it was the playoff to go into La Liga. Espanyol got promoted. I'm not sure why it was so long after the season finished tbh.

 

Who’s arranged that scheduling absolute madness, and also surely gives the clubs no time to prepare for next year haha. Do you know if there is rules set in place (with the game being mid transfer window) that players cannot be signed/played who weren’t registered in the past seasons squad?
