They don't really cost that much.

When neymar and mbappe made their psg transfers it looked like fees were going to go absolutely mental.

But since then, not many have actually came close to their fees.

For a modern example, only one transfer this summer has went for when €50m and that was Ugarte from psg to United.

Only 8 were €20m or more.

Engels is in the top 20 of transfer fees for this window.

Absolutely agree, we can't sign the creme de la creme and we can't afford 20m plus players, but this myth of any half decent player costing 50m+ is as wide off the mark as people thinking any top league player is demanding 60k a week minimum. When reality is, the majority of players in even the top leagues are on more comparable wages to what we pay and can afford to pay. Again, minus the obvious stupid players.

In agreement and the psr rules that have come in have slowed spending down hence all the haggling

I agree with you here even including EPL but outside of EPL in particular it seems that £10m- £20m is viewed again as a big fee.

Just get the feeling this guy’s going to be good for us. Rodgers obviously likes him and he must be a strong character with leadership qualities if he was captain at Dundee. Does no harm to have players that know what it means to play for Celtic and will give everything in the famous green and white hoops. He’ll be a good signing.

I think a lot of people are going to end up being surprised by this lad.

He looks like he’s got the attitude and will to succeed that will make him hard to ignore. The fact he’s going to make an impact domestically is a given for me, it’s just whether he can jump up the levels now.

I think be adds some depth to the squad for little outlay. Iwata moving on left a space and it was also fairly good business to bring in a Scottish player for the Home grown quota. I get the feeling he might be more of a Barry Robson type signing where he won't let us down but won't go down as a great.

Gerry asking him if he thought it was wind up at firsts What a * man.

For a player who’s stood out in the league hes getting a fair bit of disrespect. How come when our players play well here they are all amazing and worth £20m but when Dundees do they are average and not good enough for here.

He’s going to surprise a few.

Luke McCowan is living the dream as a footballer and as a fan, joining the Scottish champions ahead of an exciting season, both domestically and in Europe, and as a Celtic supporter, now getting the opportunity to pull on the green and white Hoops as a player.

The 26-year-old was the third of Brendan Rodgers’ deadline day signings as he moved from Dundee to join Celtic on a three-year deal.

And walking out the tunnel at Paradise, it was clear from his reaction just how much it means to him to have joined the club he’s always supported.

Speaking to Celtic TV, Luke McCowan said: “It’s a bit surreal even sitting here with the Hoops on. I don’t really know how to put it into words.

“It’s just something that I’ve been desperate to get down as soon as I knew Celtic were interested.

'I’m just ready to get to work and show that I’m a player that can play for this club.'

“The manager got my number and left me a lovely message, asking me to call him and as soon as I phoned him he was nothing but complimentary about myself and welcomed me to the club.

“And after two minutes on the phone, I was ready to run as fast and as hard as I can for him on the pitch. So I’m ready to go.”

While Luke McCowan was able to enjoy the moment of signing for Celtic with his fiancee, Erin, his parents were heading off on holiday and wouldn’t find out about the move until their plane touched down. However, the news would have made for the perfect start to their holiday.

“It’s special to come to a club this size and just know that you’re going to be a part of something that’s going to be really great,” he said.

'I just need to go and prove now on the pitch especially that I deserve to be here and show the fans what I’ve got.'

“I think that why Celtic has been amazing in the last so many years now because you’ve got players fighting for places.

"So I’ve just got to go in now and show that I can do that and I can push boys that are in my position already to better themselves and better me. I’ll be like a sponge in there the first few days, that’s for sure.

“I’ve grown up watching the derby and you know what it means to everybody at this club and you know, come Sunday, what emotions it can bring, and I’m sure that if I’m part of that I can hopefully add to it and hopefully enjoy it.
