13.5 million with no add ons. he wanted 40k per week which feels a bit wrong but that’s progress. Cheap players such as O’reilly have their transfer value increase a lot once when they sign but this is a different scenario

 

For Lawwell this deal might make less sense but we need to take these kind of risks on players with good potential.

 

Hopefully this is the first of many that will take us another level in Europe, love that we’ve gotten so many bargains over the years and sell them on for big money but being able to bring in players already at a higher level to elevate the team is massive.

I think our main players got decent pay rises last summer when we put three or four on new deals, so although he will be our highest earner it won't be a chasm .

 

I think that’s quite promising if true looking forward. Shows we’re willing to up our policy within our means if you will for the right type of players. Showing some ambition

 

We may give players a signing fee/bonus e.g. 500k up front then 25k a week for 4 years or whatever , can technically keep within our pay structure . That used to happen back in the day alot.

 

2m a year is 50k. Possibly why we didn't give a 5 year deal .

 

He'll only be here for 2 max anyway..
