    Celtic
are in pursuit of another midfielder before tonight’s deadline.

They are working on potential deals with several targets.

The Hoops have had a longstanding interest in Dundee midfielder Luke McCowan and could make a move before 11pm.

They are also exploring a loan deal for West Ham midfielder Andy Irving. However, it’s understood the Hammers are not keen to let the 24-year-old go in this window.

Both McCowan and Irivng would be classed as homegrown for the Champions League criteria.

When asked about homegrown players, Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers told Sky Sports News’ Luke Shanley: "Our homegrown players, Scottish players are important for us - not just for a list but to be available to use.

"Ah, I know what you're getting at now! But listen we just want good players, whether they're Scottish, Irish, whatever, we just want good players."

Leaves the space for a winger and hopefully even another surprise..

I thought earlier we might get 3 if McCowan is included in that. 5 deadline day signings unveiled would be unreal..

Remember the 'several ongoing transactions' mentioned by Brendan included Engels and Trusty as well as outgoings....
one more midfielder and we'll be done I think - most likely McCowan.
Turning down Palma bids suggest he's happy with winger situation - for now

Really think we need a winger in. Just don't think the current group are quite capable over the course of a full season. Taking into account dips in form, injuries and just the sheer number of games we will be playing.

Losing Jota and Abada who had around 50 goal contributions the season before is so difficult to replace and we've tried to do it on the cheap so hardly surprising we're lacking in quality there.

Kuhn and Palma both seem decent enough but neither are going to make the impact we need in Europe.

Khuns litterly scoring and assisting every game right now. I think he'll do very well in Europe. However there's zero depth. Who do we swap in at 60 mins when he's breathing out his *? :56: he's no meada who can keep going for years. We need another winger.

I’m pretty happy with Kuhn. Maeda, I’m delighted with. Forrest is doing very well and I’m happy for him to get minutes, even in Europe. What I’m not happy about is that, in its current state, the squad will be relying on Yang and Palma to step up and I’m not sure anyone has confidence they will. I think we need one more quality addition out wide. That leaves us with Kuhn, Maeda, Forrest and A.N Other. Would be delighted with that.

Now we've sold MJ I'd think we have space. Can see us getting one.

Really hope so, after MJ going we could do with one more in the door.

Reckon it’ll just be Engels, Trusty and McCowan

We have 5 wingers in the squad. I doubt it.

Think given we tried for the winger from Lazio, we must be wanting one

There's a big difference between doing it against Kilmarnock and St Mirren than against the teams we'll play in the CL.

I think he's decent but nowhere near what's required if we want to progress to consistently be qualifying for the later stages.

If we want to do that Jota standard is about the minimum.

    Forrest is getting on..

Maeda will be first choice left winger but also 3rd option up top..

    Doesn't leave much..

Yang and Palma I don't think the manager likes too much. Think Yang will be the most likely if any go..
