Thinking on it again, it really is imperative we sign a winger today.

Only really 3 options we remotely trust and one is Forrest in his mid 30s.

I think we might almost be done in this window tbh. I think we might get a loan in can’t see anymore permanent transfers….. hope I’m wrong !

We have the potential again to come out this window with a ridiculous profit from player trading

Aye. I'd ship Palma and Yang out today if we could, but obviously that won't happen. I love both Maeda and Kühn tbh but they're both limited in their own ways and can no doubt be improved upon, or at the very least challenged by a player of similar quality.

That's a good thing though. It's only a problem if we make that profit by not getting the quality or the positions we need, like last summer.

I don't think we're getting someone who can offer what Maeda gives us on our budget, mate.

The thing is, I'm not sure there's a player in world football who offers what Maeda does, which is why he will always start in certain matches. I'd have him over anyone in the CL or against the huns. But we can bring in someone who offers what he can't, and can start ahead of him in certain games.

Energy wise, work rate etc no.

However we can get someone who's better on the ball or at least more consistent. E.g. a Jota type. Plenty players out there.

I'd argue that we already have that in Palma.

I think Palma has the potential to be that guy.

I thought you might say that :giggle1: I really don't like Palma tbh, poor decision making, far too selfish and slows the game down. Inconsistent in his end product too for a guy who tries it too often.

There are players out there who are more that technical type but don't have the glaring deficiencies of Palma.

Oh, I agree entirely with that; but those are all coachable if he puts in the work. It's not like with Taylor, where the poor guy has no way of making himself taller, faster or stronger; Palma already has the things you can't coach.

Same * window from a board well past its stinking sell by date. But the fanbase accept it without a whimper. We get what we deserve for doing * all to hit them in the pocket every season. HH

Maybe they are coachable, problem is I think even Rodgers has given up on him now going by how he's been bombed out. If Rodgers can't coach him, I think there's obviously an attitude problem, and if there is, I doubt he's ever going to work on those mental deficiencies.

Edit unless Turley is being promoted to first team

Eh? We've taken too long to get business done, but it's looking like we've improved GK, LB and CB, with a club record signing in midfield to replace O'Riley, and securing Idah and Bernardo on perms. Likely a couple more today too. I think it's been an excellent window.

Rodgers’ priority A1 this summer was to clear out as much of the deadwood as possible and limit incomings to quality, rather than quantity. A smaller squad opens the door to higher average salaries, meaning better quality. A huge part of that stage of the plan isn’t about the immediate future, but allowing us to revamp our recruitment set up over the next few months and start next summer in a real position of strength (i.e. more availability in the wage structure and it not being a case of “we need to get rid of x, y and z before we can bring someone in”).

I know people generally don’t like straight loans, but with all that in mind, getting the likes of Iwata and Palma off the books today and replacing them with two quality loans (if we can’t get the permanent deals we want done) could be very prudent business.

I genuinely don't think that's true, mate. Let's compare this summer with last summer:

    Last summer: didn't replace Giakoumakis.
This summer: spent a fortune to replace Giakoumakis.

Last summer: sold our best player and didn't replace him.
This summer: sold our best player and broke our transfer record to replace him.

Last summer: bought a load of "projects" the manager didn't want.
This summer: sold a load of players the manager didn't want for decent fees.

Last summer: didn't arrange enough loans.
This summer: proactively arranged a fair few loans.

Last summer: yet another window without a LB.
This summer: we brought in a left back.

And the window isn't even over yet!

Honestly, mate, I genuinely think it's night and day.
