    Without a doubt this hopefully signals that the club has changed its transfer strategy from basically 100% or close to projects in the 2-3m bracket to far less projects and been willing to bring in more players clearly first team ready in that 6-10m bracket.

    What's so appealing about this sort of deal is we are shopping in a completely different market, now. Spending between £9m-£13m for a player is something the clubs we aspire to be like Salzburg, Club Bruges, Anderlecht, Feyenoord do regularly when it comes to players of huge potential.

    50 games for a mid table Bundesliga team at the age of 20? Excellent business and I can't wait to see him on the pitch. Also shows we can attract top talents out of the top leagues. This IS a place where players want to play football.

    There's no reason why we can't go and buy players from these kinda clubs now anyway your Dinamo Zagrebs, Salzburgs, Club Brugge, Young Boys etc etc for good players at these kinda prices..

    All of those sides would have players want to leave them for Augsburg..

    Aye going forward now, they club will find it hard to revert back to predominantly 2-3m project bargains.
    The need for 2-3 a season in this 9-15m range will increase. But the more we do it, the more we naturally progress up. Better in Europe means better exposure for our players, means they will sell for more.
    High chance we stick this up for 2-3 years and we break 30m for selling players regularly and it all funds itself. While we enjoy Europe again.

    This could be a real watershed moment for us in my opinion, as long as we don’t stand back and admire our handywork.

    Follow this up with two or three more quality signings tomorrow and then carry out a properly professional revamp of our recruitment process and suddenly as a club we’ve taken a huge step forward.
