Celtic in the UEFA Champions League 2024-25

You draw 2 teams from each pot to play 1 home and 1 away you can only draw 2 teams from the 1 association so

Potential for celtic

Pot 1 - Man city and Real Madrid
Pot 2 - Athletico Madrid and benfica
Pot 3 - Red Bull Salzbug and Young Boys
Pot 4 - Brest and Aston Villa

As you can see we can draw 2 from England and Spain but teams from same association can't play each other so in essence each team has their own path draw is all done by AI and should take 90 mins. If was manual over 1000 balls needed and 4hour draw

 

I wish they would take away rule you can't play same association in this new format.

 

So if its all done but computer should mean we get the days of the fixtures too no ?

Pot 2 is what makes and breaks this for us. There's some horror teams in there and some I would fancy a result against. Pot 1 is what it is . We should have half a chance against all pot 3, and a very decent chance against all pot 4. It's that second pot that can really * up our draw.

 

It's not 4 groups of 9. You could play Real and Barcelona but they wouldn't play each other. Each team has its own specific set of fixtures.

 

Some incredibly beatable teams in there.

 

Win league and huns 2nd we start CL 25/26 in play offs and huns would start in 2nd rd

 

Why? We have practically the same squad as last year minus our best player and we were * last season.. we are an injury or suspension away from total disaster at the back which is our weakest point.

Transfer window not closed yet but again I'm just dreading this instead of looking forward too it.

Fact we should be playing 4 different teams around our ability. Not just one. So sure we'll get pumped raw by the pot 1 and 2 teams. However 4 other very good games we can compete in? Yes please.

 

Would pot 1 and 2 pump us silly? We drew with Atletico last year, I think Shaktar and Brugge are eatable both home and away too. From pot 3 and 4 I would want to avoid PSV, Lisbon and Villa.

 

Weve more chance of being completly pumped by pot 1 and 2s. Depends when we play them aswel. Say we draw Madrid, we're *. However draw Madrid on the 8th game when they are fully qualified and get to play against the kids? Good chance. Will wait to see who we get to have an idea but I'm confident we will make it to the playoff round.

 

Well for one we're playing so much better than last year: Rodgers has had proper time with the squad and we look a cohesive unit.

Secondly, the structure means we will play more beatable teams than normal.

Thirdly, pre-season showed me we could have joy against high pressing teams, which is exactly what we'll face in the CL.

On the point of the squad, we don't know yet how we'll be come Saturday but I think we'll have improved. O'Riley is difficult to replace but I believe we've improved our keeper, left back, and we could be looking at an improved centre half as well.

It's all guesswork, but I've just got a feeling we'll surprise people this year.

 

Some carry on this new format. The draw anyway. Quite looking forward to how it all pans out though but wish they would do awagly with keeping teams from the same league apart, that's what causes all the hassle.

 

At the moment yeah it all depends on the next few hours regarding recruitment.

I agree we are playing way better than last season but it's the depth of our squad that worries me and wouldn't mind pre season.. means nothing, man city reserves chelsea weeks behind us and a weak yank team.. CL is a total different level
