I really don't think this one will get over the line before the deadline passes anyway. But we will see.

As I said the other day you are negotiating with the MLS and the club nightmare to do deal with them this late in the window even worse think we can safely say this ain't happening. Tbh I am not that fussed. Engles the main one for me and if we need to keep Holm or iwata around then so be it given how long we left it late in this window.

Think there’s been a fair bit of misreporting on this in the media tbh. The story about LA upping their asking price only came about after they won their semi final. They rightfully asked for more to let him leave before that game and it would have been pretty mental for the MLS to undermine them.

I think he’ll be here before the window closes.

Ether him or Engels I dont beleive the squad needs them both unless a midfielder is moved on we are stacked their prefer money spent elsewhere if Engels is incoming who is worth the money and only a smidge more expensive

Imo there’s definitely room for both and Brendan said as much. He wants 2 midfielders in. It’s one of the only things he’s been very clear about.

    Stacked in midfield?

Hatate and McGregor are the only two midfielders we have who have played consistently for us the last couple of years at a good level (less so in Hatate's case but we know he's quality).

Those two, Bernardo and Engels would be a very good 4 to pick from. Bogusz would give us an option in there and out wide. That's ideal.

We absolutely need both, especially given Bogusz can cover the wings if needed.

Maybe if we are just talking ability terms … theirs no enough room if they both come in at close to 10 m each means potentially if Engels starts we have potentially 25 million quid worth of money spent sitting on the bench in 3 players

The idea also is that reo, Palma,Yang will be moving on in the next 12 months. Getting 2 guys in at 10 million or so is being proactive

Player sitting on the bench isn’t gonna grow in money until a first team player is moved on

I don't care. I want options to change a game. What goods money when we don't spend anyway.

Rodgers wants a quality squad so to do that we will need to spend more money on our bench options also.

I'd actually argue we need another midfielder on top of the two of them if it happens. We still don't have a defensive midfielder of the quality required.

Funny how we can see things differently.

Rotting on a bench, true. Being used from the bench and showing potential to displace and replace the first choice, they absolutely should rise in value. That's the natural way players should advance

I can just imagine Rodgers saying that to the board and the blank confused faces it would cause. Proactive is not a word in their vocabulary.

We definitely need two midfielders. Given, we will have a limit on what we spend, I’d probably avoid Bogusz at £8m.

Id prefer we signed Engels for £10m and Sanches for £4m, then bought another winger like Toure for £5m.

Aye, I'd be up for that too. Not totally sold on Bogusz for the price quoted. What I meant by my previous post was we definitely need two midfielders; I'm just assuming given the links that those two are our preferred choices.

    Would love Toure.

I can see this one happening. Sure Rodgers has said in the past that he doesn't like his squads to be too big. Makes sense that he likes to have players that can play several position. With Bogusz being able to play as CM, AM, false 9 or on the wings, it gives a lot of cover and tactical flexibility during games - can switch formation without using subs.

Well Rodgers hasn’t done that with any other players so far apart from idah and Bernardo

There is literally no reason for us not to spend £8m and £10m on that pair if we want them. We would have been in a perfectly comfortable position to spend that money before we even sold O’Riley.
