I get where you’re coming from. For me, he’s a big guy with technical ability. Most importantly, Rodgers wants him. I’m not too worried about whether he’s worth it or not.. that’s not up to me. I trust Rodgers to get it right. I like the look of the guy. The one game I watched with him he picked out a few really nice defence splitting passes and took his goal really well. As I said, it will be good to get a big physical guy in with technical ability. I’m all for it.

Ali Johnston came from the MLS let’s not forget. There’s talent over there.

He’s not actually as big as I thought. Height-wise anyway. Still a physical dude.

If we’re looking for a bit of extra steel in midfield, Bogusz and Engels certainly add strength. Both are strong guys.

Celtic submit official offer for Los Angeles FC midfielder

Following LAFC's 3-1 loss to Columbus Crew in the Leagues Cup final on Sunday, where Bogusz assisted Olivier Giroud's goal, talks between the two clubs have resumed.

Celtic are actively pursuing the 23-year-old Poland Under-21s star as part of their strategy to sign two midfielders before Friday's transfer deadline.

Brendan Rodgers' side hope the potential acquisition will help ease the loss of Matt O'Riley, who joined Brighton for a reported £30million on Monday.

Bogusz was previously at Leeds United and has scored 21 goals from 76 appearances since moving to LAFC last March.

Aye there's some talent but attacking numbers are very hard to judge.

Johnston came from there but having watched it I just don't trust the outliers. Bogusz year last season as well he only got 4 goals in 42.

I don't care about the money either as its not mine but that doesn't mean I want us to waste £10m where it may be better used on someone with more European experience. But gotta trust Rodgers I suppose.

Just didn't expect us to potentially break our transfer record on someone with a very good 25 or so games behind him as the reason...time will tell.

Notice you've already said above but he's only 5ft 9 ish I think. So not that big, but admittedly looks a stocky gaz hooper type.

Stewart Ross has done a good write up on Bogeuz in the Celtic Way if anyone subscribes it can be found here - https://www.celticway.co.uk/opinion/24542500.celtic-sign-mateus-bogus-replace-matt-oriley/

Having read the article I could actually see him coming in as one of the 8’s alongside Engels with the ability to also play as a Ryan Christie or even early career McGregor type wide option.

What I would take from having watched some footage of Bogusz and reading the stats report is he is more like a Hatate alternative at centre midfield than O’Riley. Bogusz strengths are his ball carrying, close control, runs off the ball, creative passing, progressive passing and his finishing both inside the box and from distance. He also has good delivery from open play and set plays.

His main weakness is his defensive contribution, where he gets involved in a lot of duels (ground ones anyway) his success rate is close to 50/50, he doesn’t do anything aerially. He actually profiles a lot like Hatate has been playing for us when available to Rodgers as our furthest forward centre midfielder who likes the left half space but will drift to the right too and can be fluid in his position. I actually wonder if we had everyone fit for more of the season last year if Rodgers might have tried Hatate in that McGregor wide midfielder role when our wingers were misfiring.

Interestingly if we did move on Palma, Bogusz could provide cover for him there too.

If as reported Engels and Bogusz are signed, I see it as we will likely play a three man midfield off McGregor and one of either Hatate or Bogusz and one of Engels or Bernardo. With Boguez or Hatate being the main creator in the team, where Engels or Bernardo while still being creative are trusted to do the off the ball work a Matt O’Riley does in a box to box type role.

On occasion we may see both Hatate and Bogusz in the same team with the later playing in one of the wide positions across the front 3.

This could work well for us as if Hatate leaves in January or next summer we would already have someone bedded in to replace him.

A bit long winded but I could see that being our plan. The question would be if Iwata is for the off do we see Engels as being able to cover McGregor?

I also wonder if we are successful in getting the four players quoted in

    - Valle
    - Engels
    - Bogusz
    - CB

Would a fifth player be a more out and out winger like the guy from Antwerp was or Isaksen was or another midfield option if Iwata did go, as that seemed a pretty credible link with the boy Diawara from Lyon on a loan to buy?

This is the one I'm not sure we will get.

His club don't want to sell and don't need to sell. They can't replace him as their window is shut. He looks decent but I don't think we play his best position either and no word of him wanting the move.

We will probably need to overpay for him and not sure we are that in love with him.

Lawell is reading your post and going to use it word for word to explain to Brendan why we can't get him.

Mateusz Bogusz appears to have already made it clear to Celtic what it will require to take him from LAFC this summer.

Record Sport understands that the Scottish Premiership champions still have an offer on the table for Bogusz - but they are under the valuation set by the Major League Soccer side as they ramp up their late summer recruitment drive. Talks remain ongoing between the two parties as Celtic look to add the Pole - who today earned his first senior international call-up - and Augsburg's Arne Engels to the midfield engine room before the window closes to fill the void left by Matt O'Riley following his record-breaking move to Brighton.

And earlier this summer, the versatile attacker admitted that he took the gamble of moving Stateside after an injury-hampered spell at Leeds United and loan spells in the Spanish lower leagues to earn game time. The 23-year-old said: "This season I have been playing a lot

Of course I am very happy about that, but that is why I came here. I didn’t come here to be a sub or a bench player. I came here to help the team, to score goals, make assists.

"I have been playing at number nine [centre forward], but my natural position is attacking midfielder. It doesn’t matter, though. I’m just happy to be playing the game that I fell in love with as a boy in Ruda Śląska

A guarantee of game time in Scotland could be key in sealing a move to Glasgow's east end - but he doesn't appear to be against to swapping the MLS for a move to Europe having stated that a switch to an unnamed Premier League side fell apart in January. He told Meczyki in April when asked about a switch to England: "I will only say that there was not enough time for the transfer. We will see what happens in the summer, because there are also signals from La Liga."

With time running out on his last move to Europe, the clock is ticking once again with the deadline fast approaching. Brendan Rodgers and the attacker will be hoping it's not a case of deja vu on Friday night

If he travels to Seattle tomorrow then deal is off. LAFC are playing Seattle sounders early hours Thursday.

It definitely wouldn’t be a good sign but I wouldn’t go as far as to say it’s off. Deals can be done remotely.

Agreed of the 2 midfielders we are working on I think this is one that will be harder to pull off.

This is also the one that is more risk in my eyes, I'm not really sure about him for the money stated.

I know people will say it's not your money, but I think it could be better spent elsewhere.
