I don't even think it's lack of ability. I think it's that he's not the type of CB Brendan wants.

A permanent means we don't have to worry next season and frees up a loan spot, which someone like Holm could benefit from.

We could just give Johnny Kenny a £150k pay off and remove him from the loan system. He’s never making it here. Lagerbielke will probably bring in a loan fee anyways.

We should just do both things and loan out Yang and Holm if we get the necessary reinforcements. I agree Kenny taking up a loan spot Kenny’s loan is up in November as well and he would count as U21 but I don’t think he spent the 2 years here to be seen as club trained?

I find the loan rules confusing, it isn’t clear to me if it is both u21/u22 and club trained or either or? I could see the logic in the later as the reason it was created was to stop mass buying and stockpiling of players just to loan to sell. They wouldn’t want to discourage young players getting a chance to play, particularly club trained players.

Tilio as well we should have taken him refusing to come back to us in the summer as a chance to dump him. If he was refusing to come back to his employer at the end of his loan. He is one I can’t see us getting anyone to buy him off us.

Back on Lagerbielke, for everyone’s sake I would just like to see him move on permanently and not have to find another home for him last year. Even if it was a loan with an obligation I would take it. I wouldn’t be giving them an option as if he goes and excels that doesn’t suit us having agreed to sell him for £2-3m.

FC TWENTE could launch a late bid to land Celtic defender Gustaf Lagerbielke on loan.

Lecce and Heerenveen have been leading the race to sign the Swede this week.

But Twente remain in the market for a defender to replace new Rangers star Robin Propper.

And the Eredivisie side could now enter the running to snap up Lagerbielke on a season-long deal.

The 24-year-old has been told he can leave Celtic in the coming days and has several options on the table.

Brendan Rodgers last week hailed Lagerbielke's professionalism - but confirmed last summer's £3million signing from Elfsborg isn't in his plans.

He said: "To be fair to Gustaf, I think for him to go and play is important, and I have spoken to him on this.

"It's been a difficult move for him but I have to say he's been absolutely brilliant every day in training.

"I said to him I recognise how difficult it has been for him at times not to be on the bench, to be training here with a small group on a Saturday morning or Sunday morning.

But he's never once wavered from being an ultimate professional and, for me, he deserves the chance to go and play.

He's not been in my plan to play but he's been a great team-mate and a real privilege to coach.

"So he deserves an opportunity to go and play and we'll see what that looks like over the next week."

If it’s right enough we can only loan out one more player it would be beyond pointless using it on Lagerbielke. He’s never going to have a future here so we’ll just have to cut our losses on this one and try get him out the door on a permanent.

Shocking waste of money on a guy who was quite clearly never the right fit for us.

Ah fair enough, if there’s enough spots for him and Holm to go out it wouldn’t be a bad move, put him in the shop window.

Think he may prove elsewhere that he's not as bad as made out.

Hope he does well as he seems a nice guy.

Is there anything official about these loan slots? Never seen it mentioned before and some big clubs have countless players out on loan. Is this an spfl thing?

Gustaf Lagerbielke is ready for FC Twente - goes on loan for a year

Here is Gustaf Lagerbielke's next club.

According to Sportblader's information, the centre-back has agreed with FC Twente on a one-year loan.

The player is in the Netherlands to undergo the medical and is officially presented.

Gustaf Lagerbielke has long been rumored to be on his way away from Celtic as he did not get any playing time and was not part of the club's plans.

He has had offers from a number of countries but now it will be a loan to FC Twente in the Netherlands, something that media in the Netherlands were the first to report on.

The player is on site at the club to undergo the medical examination and everything goes as it should, then he will be officially presented. He has already agreed with the club on a loan that extends to the summer of 2025.

Twente also agree with Celtic on the loan terms.

Lagerbielke has made two senior international matches for Sweden and has scored a total of ten matches and one goal for Celtic.
