Mortifying. I don't particularly like the guy but that's a bit of a low blow. He's only one person and an older one at that. Notice the rest of them walked away and left him to take the flak. That should never have been allowed to happen either! It only takes one nutter to lash out and how does that look!

Fans are entitled to their opinion.

However it seemed like he was willing to chat there tbf but as soon as someone loses their rag a bit etc he's always gonna walk away.

But there's very few opportunities to often show the frustrations first hand. No really surprised with what was shown there.

The engagement with fans is terrible. The guy publicly apologised in January for how the window went and its continued into this summer. Hopefully they get the finger out but as Rodgers said today this should never have to happen ffs.

If they were a bit more transparent then anger wouldn't build to such levels.

I’d flip this and suggest that if he/the board were doing their jobs to a standard which justified their multi million pound salaries then supporters wouldn’t be shouting at him/them. The manager is clearly * off and so are a large section of the support. Could the guy have articulated his point(s) in a better/more controlled manner? Aye of course. But I also find it difficult to be too critical as folk (including myself) are understandably fuming/at the end of their tether with it all.

Was thinking exactly that, Jeannie. I would have been a little frightened in his place. He even went up a bit in my estimation from how he handled that.

    Aye, nae bother tough guy!

There's a complete difference from the * bampots that pounced on a guy walking out of an exit door to the * at the end who actually tried to engage in conversation with Lawwell laterly.

Is Lawwell in charge of transfers, though? IMO, the problem is not who we do have but who we don't have. We all know Lawwell is good at the business stuff and that is important and I'm sure he does earn his salary; but we need equal expertise in the footballing operations area, starting with a DoF.

Spot on. It's a terrible look. Thought Lawwell handled it well enough.

I get the frustrations 100% but for all we know the guys taking the can for what might no be his fault. He's apparently no as involved with our transfer dealings as he was as CEO. I personally don't think he is myself and just said in the Nicholson thread that the latter (who very much is) couldn't get away any quicker..

He was willing to engage but was always gonna bolt after getting called an * etc. It's boiled over though and i get the anger as well, it could be voiced at anyone on the board from Desmond down and as that clowns never about....Lawwell's felt the heat first hand..

It shouldn't get to this stage though

The level in engagement that he, the club, should be doing, isn't stopping in the * rain outside an away ground after months of inactivity.

It's just basic communication and keeping the fans properly in touch with the club. Not the election campaign street walk.

If they just engaged, like McKay initially tried, then perhaps we, as fans, would understand their thinking more.
Or better yet, if they allowed the fans voice to be heard and acknowledged, they would maybe understand our views and act proactively with them.

But it's about 20 years too late now.
    As you say, parasite now.

Perhaps that was his angle, it does seem weird he was at an away game and out mingling in this way.
Perhaps this was his idea to show face and have some words with the common man to ensure it's getting done this week.

But it's backfired as he's not realised how dejected fans are now.

Let's wait that week and see if it turns out that he has it in hand...

I genuinely have no idea mate, not got a clue how things are working just now which I’d imagine is the same for most of us. Alas that’s a major part of the problem. From the outside looking in, we have an absolute shitload of cash sitting in the bank & continue to make zero progress in Europe year after year. Fans have had enough & it’s boiled over a bit today. As someone said in another post, it should never have been allowed to get to this stage. PL is a very senior/influential figure at the club & he’s taken the flak today rightly or wrongly. Someone was eventually gonna get a barrel load though with the way folk are feeling. Not saying it’s right but I can understand it.

Totally agree with you on structure but how long have we been saying that for? We’re all fed up of sounding like broken records with no positive changes being made. Well, you could say getting rid of Mark Lawwell was a positive change but to then not follow it up with anything is just mind boggling.

Didn't hear any threats or anything just people telling him to spend money.

Anyone who's ever worked with the public has dealt with 100 times worse while being paid peanuts. I'm sure he's OK he can go home and dry his eyes with £20 notes.

He's the chairman and outwith Desmond he's still the most powerful authority at the club. Therefore it is 100% his fault, either bcoz as many believe he's in control of the whole thing or if he's not and it's Nicholson that's making a * of it, then in his role as chairman he should be sacking the useless *.

It is a bit cringey, but he was never gonna answer any questions properly regardless if the word * was in it or not.

Flip side, you communicate properly, take proper questions in a proper format (I.e. not in the style of a kremlin bitched stooge), be accountable, treat the fanbase with respect and not as cash dispensers. Then I bet he would have be spoken to more favourably. This is years of frustration in the making. Fails to deliver, next Sunday won't be any better for him either.

Calm doon...bet he says that to his opposite number when they make their asking price known.

A more level headed heated discussion and the fans there may have got something out of that. Can’t say I agree with the swearing and personal insults but it does not surprise me one bit.

Fan engagement is non existent, messages from the board non existent. Fans are feeling understandably angry at the just sheer incompetence or lack of ambition.

If the next 5 days don’t go well, I have said this before, I think the board underestimate the ill feeling towards them if the window goes tots up.

Yes we are winning domestically but with likely near 100m in the bank that just isn’t enough anymore.

Fair enough but is he the reason deals aren't over the line? Getting done quickly enough?

I'm no so sure about that..

Trying to frame this without sounding like a cheeky * (written text doesn't allow for tone), absolutely none intended.

But if Lawell isn't involved, Why's he apologising for a poor window in January. Shouldn't that fall to Nicholson? Since he wore sandals and trousers to Majorca last summer, not seen him since. He definitely has questions to answer.

Just another point, for me, says there's a lack of structure within the club.

Probably not mate but wider view their is still some blame there as a collective.

We have a ceo who doesn't seem up to it and at the very least the board of directors should be at least questioning the ceo about his failure to appoint a new head of recruitment in the past 5 months
