+1 i also thought brown had a good game. he was definetaly one of our best players in the first half. I think he deserves the chance he is getting and hopefully he can improve as performances go on

I take your point about how the fact he may have supported Rangers as a boy has nothing to do with how we should judge him and about how some of our greatest ever players didn't grow up as celtic fans but you should judge a player on performances and so far Brown has been *. and this isn't based on a few games it's based on over a year!

The fact is he couldn't trap a bag of cement and he is incapable of playing a defence splitting pass!
The only way to some him up is headless chicken. That says it all.

    * up there - i meant to quote cat 123.
Also the reason why Hartley didn't get as much stick is because he has previously performed well in a celtic jersey, unlike Brown.

He's an imposter and is ripping us of.

he's not interested in playing for us, he's a rangers fan and doesnt try a leg. i agree with an earlier post that he's only playin about 40% because when you see him playing for Scotland he's fantastic.

our problem is our manager is a coward and wont drop him.

he should be sold in January

Watched the game again and Brown was quite steady, especially considering we got pumped at home.

I would love to watch it again, dont think i can stomach it again though. I just think he is capable of much more than steady. He should be getting tore right in especially in an old firm game.

I've actually watched the game again and Hartley was pish, unlike Brown who played well. Try being objective.

Our system dosen´t suit Brown your quite correct but I think the same could be said about many of our players current or already out the door.

Never really rated him when he was at Hibs, thought he was okay but nothing special, price tag was way to high. Always thought Thomson was the better of the two, he seemed to play better against us was pretty gutted when the huns signed him.

I think the real question we should all be asking is
    Can he play left back?

honestly though i thought he played fairly well nothing special but what do you expect when we get humped. His passing was good but for me the problem looks like he doesnt trust Zico. He sits too deep in thr ole Hartley should be plying and often has to come back to pick the ball up from defence. also if you watch the Falkirk and St Mirrin games theres a lot of times he looks to have been a thought ahead of his team mates. One example that sticks out was against St Mirrin when he picked up the ball in midfield drove forward to the D then rolled it into skippys feet, he then continued his run losing his marker at the same time. A simple one to would have left him 1 on 1 but skippy chose to play a sqaure ball back.

I belive given a bit more time and playing beside Robson we'll see the best of him.

    What are you talking about?
I never said Hartley played well. All i said was, i think most people think both Hartley and Brown were pish but people are less likely to criticise Hartley because he has put in numerous good performances for us in the past whereas Brown hasn't!

How is that not being objective?

What system do you guys play with Brown for Scotland anyway?

Personally I think he's been very weak for us in the middle. He doesn't link as well as we need him to be and when he does make a good run or somebody plays him the ball in space -- it seems like he doesn't know what to do with it.

Noticed Brown took a pounding in the overrated thread to.

People seem to forget that for 2 years all Mcgeady showed was flashes.

The system with Scotland can range quite alot,
    from a 4-5-1 to a 4-4-2
451 he has fletcher and captain sideways next to him with two wingers alowing him to get forward and the balls getting fed to him properly* he plays well with ferguson behind him regardless of ferguson being not a good player anymore lol.
a 442 if he's on the wing he cuts inside alot more.

All in all the basic diffrence is we rely HEAVY on the wingers and the job our two CM's have is a thankless one. it used to be the DM that got it here now its been switched to the AM but its not either of their faults they don't get to shine its the system. which is - get the balls down the wings, two strong CM's battling for the ball to suply out wide for the wingers to get a cross in. as in - "opperation get the ball to aiden"
Where as Scotland don't. Scotland play narrow with the wide men coming in to support the striker alowing alot more play through the middle giving the CM's there time to shine

*Believe me when i tell you that had Scott Brown signed for Rangers they would have been a MUCH MUCH better team

I think your spot on and have said it from day one. It was commonknowledge before he signed that the guy was a hun. No one can blame the guy for accepting a lucrative contract with Celtic but its been obvious from day one he has no passion for the club.

I remember him scoring for Hibs at CP and giving it the full 'get it up yae' treatment to the crowd. If u look at the few goals he's scored for us, theirs barely any emotion and he doesnt even acknowledge the fans. Im not making it up, check for yourself.

It was a concern for me when he signed but I thought 'hey, the guys a professional, but no, his hearts not in it. Even the last home game last season when the players did a lap of honour, he barely even looked at the fans.

He has no passion for Celtic and should be moved on, and before the PC people say I'm OTT, ask yourself, is it really so hard to believe a raging hun would sign a lucrative contract for Celtic and play within themselves?

I think many Celtic fans would do the same at the huns given the chance.

An expensive liability, that should be moved on.

    Above posts are spot on.

He's the only Celtic player i * cant stand.

It would be bearable if his heart wasnt with the club but he still performed, but hes pure * mince for us.

    Thanks for the reply!
Think I might catch a Scotland game this weekend and check him out.
Sounds like he's given more of a free role with Scotland, where he isn't expected to defend a lot but I know when I've seen him out wide with us I just haven't been very impressed. But then I suppose even then Strachans' system is still very rigid.
