We were offered double what we paid for him within 2 months.

I seriously think strachens tactics are partly due to browns poor performances-I really want him to do well but it's not happening just now-during pre-season he looked energetic and comfortable as the games didn't mean anything-now his game is back to what it was and not showing his true potential but once and if he explodes he could become a great player

Aye - was that Everton as suspected? heard Man U but thought that was pish...

Either way, we should have taken that! His value now would be in the 3 million mark i reckon?

If that story was true we should have grabbed it, I even said it at the time.

I would doubt if we would get half of what he cost us now.

Do you think Celtic would pay 4.4 mil for him again? <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" /><o:p></o:p>

Interesting mate perhaps you’re right and he’s just not being used to his strengths. However I think you could say the same thing about a number of players both past and presently under WGS. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" /><o:p></o:p>

Or indeed about players not used AT ALL!! Caddis, Crosas, Loovens....all of whom would have brought a bit of surprise / danger on Sunday IMO...

Allardyce has said in the past he liked him, so it may have been Newcastle.

You wouldn't sell him just now but he has the potential to come good again, we should just leave him on the bench until his chance comes round again!

Nothing would surprise me with England and prices at the moment but if I had to hazard a guess I would expect maybe 2.5 or 3 million.

Obviously if someone like Mowbray were to offer higher than that I would snap his hand off...

Based on what though, the level of performance he's put in at Parkhead? If so, probably not.

I think he's worth in excess of £4 million purely for the fact he's a Scotland regular at the age of 23 and appears to be highly rated by everyone apart from Celtic fans.

I have a question for everyone.

How do you think Scott Brown would have fared if he signed for rangers?

Does anyone else think he would be doing much better and playing with a lot more heart, my gut feeling is yes.

I would like to think Celtic fans rate him as a player with POTENTIAL, but certainly not as a player who is performing week in / week out...*, i'd even take the week IN at present...

Scotland regular, yes indeed - a lot of that down to this "potential" again, perhaps, and the hope he turns the corner / maybe even steps up to the plate. If Ferguson was fit, i doubt he'd be getting a game IMO...

Ain´t that the truth the way they hype him, you would think Geeee!!! am I missing something? I just dont see it myself but hey what do I know.

Hammer if Celtic wouldn´t pay the money again then it would be logical to think others wouldn´t either, unless the money meant nothing.

I agree with Hammer on this point...

Scott Brown has had to deal with well documented personal problems over the last year or so and taking those into account and a move to the biggest and best team in Scotland also brings it's own pressures.

I know the Scott Brown we bought from Hibs hasn't hit the heights we all thought he would but I'm confident the best has yet to come from him.

Chances are at Rangers he'd be part of a five man mid, which i think would suit him far better.....as for playing with more heart, i have to say no - i could never believe a guy as competitive as that would not give his all.

George Burley wants to build a team round him....in his own words.

If an EPL team wanted him they'd pay it, the money down there is ridiculous. I'd think if he came on the market he's good enough to play for a lot of clubs down there.

Probably better but only because Wattie played with 3 in the middle of the park last season. I think Brown is more suited to that set up rather than a 4-4-2. However I think you could say the same about a number of our players over the last 3 seasons.

Where would he fit in with Fletcher / Ferguson / Hartley? The first 2 more notably? Could shove Fletcher on the right i suppose, but i'd rather build a team around HIM...

I'd agree with you but Burley clearly see's something in him. To be fair we see far more of the real Brown in a Scotland jersey.

In his defence his stats for the amount of pitch covered eclipses the entire SPL's, or it did at the end of last season anyway so i think the 'lack of effort' thing can be put to one side.

It´s like the same mind, spooky.:97:

    Truly baffling to me.

Maybe they would do, however I think they would have to be reading the papers and not watching his performances.

"I'd think if he came on the market he's good enough to play for a lot of clubs down there "

Don´t kid yourself we would sell him in a heart beat if someone wanted him, he´s on the market. For me on his Celtic career he would be a failure down south no matter which EPL cub he went to.
