Obviously I’m way too sentimental for professional football, but I can’t help but have a soft spot for all our home grown players.

M Johnstone, Forrest, Scales, Ralson and (even at times previously) Calmac have received dogs abuse, for not being perceived as good enough.

But I’d far rather persist with these homegrown lads, and allow them sufficient time to develop than see the club waste funds on sub standard players such as Ciftci or Compper or Kazim-Richards

Scales was a 20 year old Irishman when we signed him from Ireland.

I also have a soft spot for homegrown players but we let the best homegrown players slip through our fingers. I'd rather not persevere with MJ, I'd rather we picked up better players from other clubs before they go down south or abroad.

We are as good as selling players as we are at buying them.

Oriley still there too and seen Millwall complaining about us dithering and holding up the kelly deal.

Maybe someone should explain to Millwall that we arnt capable of multi tasking and can only deal with 1 thing at a time.

Would think that with Rodgers saying Maeda will be the third striker option for us this season if required that means Johnston will be away at some point over the next week.

Be better for all parties if he is.

At this point yes I think so. Think he will do well in the championship down south assuming he ends up at Burnley or another team there and given his performances last season we should hopefully be able to get a decent fee for him.

In the interest of squad progression and development, better he goes now.

The way things are stacking up heading into the last week of this window I would be surprised if Johnston was not sold and was still a Celtic player come September 1st.

If the offers there we'll sell, Rodgers has been complimentary and giving him minutes but I think it's 100% just keeping him in the shop window.

I would say your spot on there. Hopefully a good option works out for Johnston at some point this week.
