    * me he couldn't lace Rogic's boots imo but maybe one day he will get to that level. That silky Aussie * did unspeakable things to the football while he was here.

MATT O’RILEY is poised to tie up his record-breaking move to Brighton after Celtic last night agreed a deal in principle with the Seagulls worth up to £30m

The subject of a string of failed bids from Italian side Atalanta throughout the summer, the 23-year-old’s exit was sealed when the English club finally met Celtic’s valuation of £26m.

But Mail Sport understands that figure - £1m more than the record fee the club got from Al Ittihad for Jota - will rise by £4m with add-ons across the duration of the player’s time in England

The Denmark international is now expected to miss Celtic’s game away to St Mirren tomorrow as he travels south to tie up the formalities

The O’Riley deal represents an extraordinary piece of business from the Parkhead club.

The Fulham academy graduate arrived from MK Dons for just £1.5m in January 2022 under Ange Postecoglou.

The midfielder won three titles, two Scottish Cups and a League Cup and graduated to become a full international.

His performances in the Champions League caught the eye of Atletico Madrid.

Found this post on the MK Dons forums.

I’ve sat on my hands all summer at watched the debate play out on here about sell on fee. As someone who was close to MOR team. I can end the speculation. The sell on is 15% on anything above the 1.5m Celtic paid. No further money due to Fulham as they had 50% of the original 1.5m.
so 3.5mil from the base 25mil (23.5mil) goes to us, and an extra 725k if brighton hit the add ons, not a bad bit of business and a LOT of money for a debtless club in league 2, if thats why we've pulled out of the 2 deals because we can now afford even better players, im not complaining one bit

Good luck to the young fella

Not bad return for a second choice project purchase (Riley McCree must be kicking himself!!!!!) at £1.5 million!

My girlfriend is somewhat bereft at his leaving!!!!

Turned into a sublime football player and can go on to bigger things.

I will not even contemplate what the charlatans at executive level of our club will do to remedy this.

To think we only got him because some other nobody knocked us back for the Championship. We can't have spent £1.5m much better in our history

A midfielder that could easily have staked a claim to get into many of our best midfields.

A consummate professional even through 18 months of transfer speculations and brought us in a monumental fee.

What a man wish him nothing but the best

From Brighton's point of view, they are paying 30 million to Fenerbahce for a 24-year-old LB and 26+4 million to Celtic for a 23-year-old attacking midfielder. Rule of thumb is attacking midfielders are more expensive than defenders. Perhaps we could have asked for a bit more. EPL teams are paying crazy fees.

Anyway, seems like a done deal. Best of luck to him!

I do think we could have pushed for more.

It's hardly "shattering" the record as was reported. £26m? Up front.

    Anyway. Tis done now.

Obviously I don't know what the conditions for the add ons are but I can see him been a big success for Brighton and making us more money there plus hopefully we have a sell on profit percentage as well because I can easily see him being sold in a few years by Brighton for an even bigger fee.

So true the guy is a class act and you can see how much he does clearly enjoys playing for us. I have a feeling that he will be one of those players who no matter where else he plays will always be a Celt.

With Starfelt, Jota and now O'Riley gone, the squad's attractiveness rating has taken a steep decline. Get Scott Allen re-signed quick, because if Kyogo leaves we really are * (* ugly)

Wait... Are MK Diddys due a chunk of this?

If so, cancel the deal and bump up the price to 40m.
