The transfer saga involving Celtic, Brighton and Hove Albion and Matt O’Riley is finally about to come to an end.

The Seagulls have spent a lot of money since appointing Fabian Hürzeler as Roberto De Zerbi’s successor at the Amex earlier this summer

TBR Football understands that Brighton are close to finalising a deal for Celtic star Matt O’Riley.

The ‘phenomenal‘ Dane has been widely expected to leave the Hoops in this window, and he has been linked with plenty of clubs over the last two months.

Brighton were one of them, and even though the Seagulls are busy working on a number of deals, getting O’Riley has become hugely important to the club.

Talks between Brighton and Celtic for O’Riley have been going on for several weeks, and a positive conclusion is approaching now as we enter the final week of the window.

Sources have confirmed to TBR that O’Riley’s transfer to Brighton is close to being done

The midfielder’s exit from Celtic is about to be finalised, and we can confirm that it will be a record sale for the Scottish champions.

Gutted if he’s away, but hopefully we hugely improve in a couple of key areas now

We should move on with incomings regardless. We already got loads of money sitting in the bank.

Wouldn't surprise me if he's not involved on Sunday if it's that close.

He won't be risked. Too much money at stake. We have plenty midfielders for the St.Mirren game.

Gonna miss the handsome *. What a player he’s been for us. Outstanding and earned his move. Wish him all the best. Brighton have made another very shrewd signing.

Class player, excellent attitude, and clearly a hard worker with how much he improved last season. Wish him all the best when this is over the line and hope he smashes it in the prem

Money wise, good move for him.

European football and silverware wise, disaster.

It's clearly a business now, but who can blame them?

He plays well there this season and he will be sold to a bigger team for millions the next.

What a player he was for us. Came in at a crucial point in his first season and took to it like a duck to water.

Great player and seemed a great guy.

    Sore one.

If he isn't replaced properly, the huns have been given a ridiculous shot in the arm for the Parkhead game. I think talk of hammering them was largely based on O'Riley's influence being felt in the middle of the park. Massive, massive week ahead.
