Thanks for the memories. Wish we could keep our best players, but that's the league we play in.

Hope he tears it up down there.

Have 0 complaints IF he goes, Model pro and deserves praise for his attitude.

Big loss and if only we could rely on the club to at least attempt to replace him with someone who has a bit of quality about them.

You never know but I will not hold my breath

Midfielder Matt O’Riley is still in talks with Brighton over a potential deal worth more than £25m, but a deal has yet to be agreed

Not sure it would be a good idea to play him, his head will be elsewhere, also the chance he could pick up an injury.

We want the focus to be on the game itself, not the fact that it may be his last game.

He's been subject to bids for weeks and been playing just fine, don't think we need to worry about his head being away. He had a bit of a wobble after the interest in winter but doesn't seem phased by it at all now.

Assuming Celtic already knows he will leave....
absolutely wouldn't play him this weekend - why risk it for both him and us?

He’s told the club that until a deal is done for him to leave then he’s 100% focused on Celtic and just wants to keep playing and enjoying his football. It’s been no issue the last few weeks, so no reason that changes this weekend (unless a deal significantly progresses today).

He’s been an absolute credit to himself and the club and, if he is to leave, deserves to go out on a high.

No arguments there... I doubt there will be too many Celtic fans that disagree

Brighton are expected to ramp up their efforts to land Matt O'Riley in a deal north of £25m once Billy Gilmour seals his switch to Napoli in the coming days. But as things stand, Rodgers confirmed there has been no concrete offer for his star man.

He said: "I think all the speculation and gossip over the last week or so, I'm preparing for a five-a-side game at the weekend. There's been so many players linked with going away. There's nothing concrete, there's clearly interest in him and a number of the other players but in this moment in time, we're very clear and focused and preparing for St Mirren. Until I get told otherwise, that's exactly what we'll do. Absolutely, as I stand here now, that's the current standing (that O'Riley will be in this weekend's squad)."

Celtic captain Callum McGregor has lauded how Matt O’Riley has dealt with the current transfer speculation surrounding him.

Latest reports have stated that no agreement has been reached, but that talks remain ongoing as Brighton and Hove Albion look to bring the attacking midfielder to the south coast.

Talk of a Parkhead exit for O’Riley has been ongoing throughout the summer, but the 23-year-old has not let it impact him in any manner.

On the pitch, his performances have remained at a high level, and his skipper has praised his attitude to the impending speculation.

“He’s been great”, McGregor told CeltsAreHere.

    “He’s been fantastic for us.

We’ve had a couple of chats, but to be honest he’s been fantastic in the way he’s dealt with it.

“He’s treated everyone with respect and the way that he’s trained and played has shown that as well.

    “Whatever happens will happen.”

With a week remaining in the transfer window, it remains to be seen whether O’Riley will be a Celtic player come the end of it.

He is a wanted man but remains fully focused ahead of this weekend’s trip to St. Mirren.

O’Riley trained this morning and he will likely be in the squad that heads to Paisley

I get the mindset of not playing him this weekend if the Brighton deal is close but not completely done but for me having seen how professional he has been with everything speculation/transfer wise I would start him this weekend for what will be a tough game for us. O'Riley clearly loves the club and playing for us and I think rather then having his mind elsewhere I think he would be dead set on going out on a high if indeed a move to Brighton is imminent.
