Alien: Romulus

What a trailer, Ridley Scott loves it apparently, looks like its going back to the feel of the first one in a way.

 

Finally something I'm looking forward to seeing. Cinema has been dung in the past couple of years.

 

Think the cinema has been great the last couple of years - well last 12 months anyway.

Oppenheimer, Barbie, Killers of the Flower Moon, Dune 2 and The Iron Claw have all been at least 8/10s.

 

Didn't hear the sound of the gun firing 2/10

 

Looking forward to this as well. I've watched all the Alien movies again recently.

Might give Alien Isolation another go again on the PS.

 

Dont get me wrong, i'm looking forward to this but i still feel a bit gutted on a couple of points, in order:

- Would have preffered to see Blomkamps, Aliens follow up.
- Would have preffered to see the Prometheus trilogy wrapped up. Dont care what anyone say's - while flawed, its solid sci-fi and looks phenominal.

Please dont suck.

 

Thought prometheus and covenant were good aswell people hated them cos they were after gung ho action same as aliens whereas you had to use your brain to understand them

 

Just back from catching this - thought it was excellent.

I don't want to give much away, but the film catches elements of Alien, Aliens, Resurrection and Prometheus.

Need to give credit for them building actual full size sets as opposed to green screens - made all the difference. The filming style was grainy so it felt kind of retro and there was lot of practical effects also.

 

Seen it on Saturday, thought it was brilliant. Some great acting. Sound design was very good

 

I've only seen Alien and Aliens. Can this be watched as a stand alone film or need to watch the other first.

 

I'll have to look into that!

I did love Alien and especially Aliens, one of my all time favs.

 

The second Alien v Predator film isn't the best, but I like the rest of the Alien films. The first two are the best but I liked Prometheus and Covenant, although admittedly I had to watch Prometheus a few times to appreciate it. Hopefully get along to the cinema for this while it's still showing.

 

This falls in between Alien and Aliens in the timeline. I'd say you're good to go - but might be worth watching Prometheus first just for some of the references.

 

Its made 4 times its budget which is class.

Greenlight to make more.

 

I really enjoyed it.

 

For your sanity, don't, or watch the assembly cut of 3. Alien 3 was rewritten several times as the studio wanted creative control over directors. Alien:Resurrection was worse.

 

I need to watch this. Watched Godzilla Minus One the other night and didn't expect it to be that good. Maybe it will be the same with this.
