I'm just not sure I believe Man City are interested in him, to be honest. I get that The Athletic and Romano are running with it but it seems to be coming from this Sam Lee.

Seems such a strange situation. City have just made £80m from Alvarez sale. They've narrowed down their list to either Eze, who's a very decent player from Palace, in his mid twenties but would cost around £50m or a near 30 year old striker, playing in Scotland who's needing surgery on a shoulder which will keep him out for a quarter of the year, who would cost around about 30% of that? All because Oscar Bobb has an injury and is ruled out for 3 months?

Personally, I think it's a lot of *. They'll sign someone else, who's not on their "list of two".

Imagine what we would replace him with.

No club let's their start striker go at this stage in the window (bar us obviously). So we'd be getting some 3rd or 4th pick dud that their club doesn't want.

Clubs simply don't entertain offers got their star striker in the last week of the window yet absolutely no doubt we'll just roll over and let it happen while spouting the usual pish about, "too good a chance to turn down', "chance to double their wage". * off!! He's hardly on a pittence here and he's contracted to 2027. Tell them and the player to get a * grip coz it's not * happening at this stage.

We should've bought Miovski as well.

I think he's overrated. He's a one-trick pony. Can be very effective as a pressing forward. That's about it. BR's possession-based system has no use for a pressing forward. I'd be happy to sell for the right price assuming we can bring in a replacement.

I just can’t see this actually happening. He’s worth £30m to us.

Last time I checked he didn't score a wad of goals under BR's system, did he? Limited sample size, but he has yet to score this season too. Scored loads of goals in pre-season friendlies against offensive-minded teams that allowed him to run into space. That's not the case in the vast majority of our games.

He'd maybe actually start getting picked for Japan too.

No chance the top 5 club in the world, if not 2nd, is interested in a 29 year old striker from Celtic.

No use for a pressing forward? We literally counter press all the time.

I would sell him, look at his goals last season, think it was 15, Thats * poor from our first choice striker,
just seems unsuited to BRs style.

He scored 19 goals last season. I think that can be classed as a 'wad of goals'.

We have a high defensive line, that's for sure. I think BR prefers a target man up front rather than a pressing forward. Idah is a perfect example. Edouard and Dembele as well from his previous reign.

The absolute disrespect from Celtic fans in this thread is bonkers.

City may very well be interested but regardless if they specifically are or not, he’d score goals in the English Premiership no problem whatsoever.

Sam Lee is the reporter for Man City for The Athletic, he’s not a random on Twitter.

Come on, guys. This is silly. I'd genuinely be much more worried if this were Southampton or Bournemouth or something. He's a good player, easily good enough for the EPL; but he's not good enough for City. Also, he'd be daft to want to warm a bench at his age: he only has 3 or 4 years left at the top and he'd be crazy to waste any of that time.

I genuinely have the cigar out on this one.
