The Big L really needs to take a leaf out of Lord Daizen's book and put the team objective first over his own. To me, he's a player that could become really good or he could easily fade into obscurity. In fairness though, his injury hasn't helped. Khun is picking up now so hopefully LP can do the same..and break some records :fear:

I don't see him becoming first choice winger.

I do wonder if giving him a go at AM might be worth a punt though.

Not saying he is a hunnish guy. He is just a typical 2.5-4 million type winger who seriously lack ability just like the wingers they have in their squad. They can keep possession but nothing more. I am highly confident that he wont make it here unfortunately.

His loss of form has been one of the worst I can remember from a player after a good start for some time.

His first few months once he got in the team he was arguably our third most valuable player after Kyogo and O’Riley, as CCV and Hatate were out injured for most of the first half of the season.

He looked a threat in CL games but has totally fell off a cliff. We have too much to do in this window now but I would have looked to cash in.

He definitely does have ability we've seen it..

Whether he has everything else needed to make it here is another matter.

Frustrates the life out of me but I think that's just what most wingers do

I think his problem is how selfish he is. Doesn’t seem to want to contribute anymore and pass to players in space always wants more touches and time on the ball and to try shoot himself for a highlight reel. If he gets more chances he needs to try play more simple and try set teammates up first and involve them more then once his form picks up start taking on more shots etc. it’s frustrating when you see people moving around him and he slows it down so much then cuts inside into bodies and either had to pass back cause he waited too long or he shoots and misses losing possession

Has defo got talent but don't think BR will be a fan of how much he slows things down and how greedy he can be.

When people say his form fell off a cliff, it didn't really. His last run of games in December/January he ended before the break with 5 goals/assists in 6 games.

It's just since we returned from the break he never really got a game again. think it's clear Rodgers just doesn't like him and now when he comes off the bench he is under heavy pressure to perform knowing that despite playing well before he got dropped.

He probably thinks he was playing well and he still got left out the team. Like the last 10 games before the winter break he got 11 goals and assists yet we came back from that and binned him.

Even then in the 6 games he's started in the last 7 months he has 3 goals/assists in them. So it's not like even the games he's started since he's not done anything.

It's more when he comes on for 20/30 minutes now he looks desperate. Which again is probably just down to him thinking I was scoring and creating goals for fun and still got left out the team.

Even his stats off the bench, his last 7 sub appearances he has 1 goal and 0 assists so not done much but Forrest also only has 1 goal and 0 assists in his last 7 sub appearances, Maeda also the exact same 1 goal and 0 assists in 7, Yang has 0 goals and 1 assist in his 7 and Kuhn has only made 7 sub appearances has 1 goal and 1 assist in them. So he's not even doing much different to them off the bench.

Just that he's only started 6 games since the 2nd of January, Yang has started 4, Forrest has started 9, Maeda 13 and Kuhn 14. They've also had runs of starts other than him or Yang, Forrest has started 9 of our last 10 games, Maeda when fit starts every game really and Kuhn has also started 7 of his last 10 games. Palma has only had a run of 2 starts in a row once since the break even Yang started back to back games twice.

I think he is a bit of a victim of how the team as a whole performed in the winter period, as well as who he replaced.

People were frustrated in general about our form, especially compared to Ange team. Even though Palma was often the one creating, often the only person looking creative at all, along with MOR, our performances as a team weren't good compared to what we'd seen previously.

People then look to what's different - Kyogo not scoring - and come to the conclusion that it's cause we haven't replaced Jota and lumped Palma into the poor stats of all of our wingers last season (including Maeda until he came back from Asian Cup).

His form has definitely dipped, but as you illustrate, it's hard when you're barely starting or getting 15 mins here and there. I think he's a player we'd be silly to let go.

He's also unfortunate that Maeda plays his position though, he really has been excellent the past few months.

He's played 606 minutes for us since the 2nd of January, thats about 6.7 full games so he's played less than 7 games of football in 7 and a half month.

    Since the winter break:

    Kuhn 21 appearances, 1122 minutes - 6 goals 5 assists (102 minutes per goal/assist) (53.4 minutes per appearance)
    Maeda 16 appearances, 1236 minutes - 9 goals 1 assist (124 minutes per goal/assist) (77.3 minutes per appearance)
    Forrest 13 appearances, 670 minutes - 5 goals 3 assists (84 mins per goal/assist) (51.6 minutes per appearance)
    Palma 17 appearances, 606 minutes - 3 goals 1 assist (151 mins per goal/assist) (35.6 minutes per appearance)
    Yang 12 appearances, 414 minutes - 0 goals 2 assists (207 mins per goal/assists) (34.5 minutes per appearance)

    Pre winter break

    Palma 21 appearances, 1362 minutes - 7 goals 9 assists (85 minutes per goal/assist) (64.9 minutes per game)

Mental actually looking there, Palma played 624 minutes for us in December alone, starting 8 games in December out of 8 from the 3rd to 30th and since then has only played 661 minutes.

624 minutes in 27 days to 661 minutes in 233 days.

Grand old team to play for
In the 8 games we played in December we lost to Hearts and Killie (Palma started both of them). The team just plays better when Daizen is in it.

    His form has dipped massively.

Rodgers sees him everyday in training and he's chose to give him so little minutes and it's hard to argue with it bcoz everytime he's came on this year he's been poor.

His performance of the bench in semi final v Aberdeen was horrific. I'm really suprised he's still here, particularly with him changing agents over the summer too

I’d sell if someone come in for him. Isn’t direct enough with the ball for me, and I want our wingers to go at the fullback and commit them. Kuhn, Maeda and Forrest all look at get the ball and be direct. Even Yang does as well albeit he is * hopeless. Palma dithers on it too long for me. Decent enough player technically, but I just don’t think he is a Rodgers type player either.

He frustrated me a little with his selfishness and lack of awareness in games he was scoring in. It’s likely always going to be part of his game even when he’s contributing well.

I like him but he’s a squad player.

I actually think he has talent but there's no denying he's selfish and fancies himself a bit.

That chance he had was just stupid. He had space to drive into in the box and he had a man to his right at a better angle to score.

That's the sort of decision making that would * us in Europe at a higher level. Although granted he was decent in Europe.

See his celebrations from the bench at the end of last season if you really think it's all about him. I just feel like it's so wide of the mark.

He can be greedy on the pitch sometimes, aye, but so can Kyogo (who also has tiktok account) and we'd never label him in such a way.
