    £26m:giggle1:

Good for the PR of “new transfer record” though…

In all seriousness, we should be demanding at least £30m, given the interest in him. Brighton are spending like there’s no tomorrow. They can afford an extra £5m or so.

Been trying not to get my hopes up of keeping him, not always succeeding. There was even a time last season I wanted him to go for the sole purpose of us moving to a more 'pace and power' type setup in the midfield.

Bit daft that one admittedly, the guy is a * tremendous football player and we've been lucky to witness his rise. End of the day he can't reach his potential playing in Scotland, so no issues with him if he wants to move on.

Fully expected to get £30 million minimum for him but if it's 28 plus add ons etc fair do's. Really hope he goes on to smash it whenever he ends up in the future. Boy is the consummate professional and talented in the extreme.

Aw the best ya handsome big *.

Weird how they can come in within last two days to make bids and anticipate the deal done in 24-48hrs

Yet Celtic will monitor, first bid, wait a month, maybe do some work, take about 2 months to do a deal.

£26M up front with £4M add ons and a 20% sell on fee (not profit), think that would a good deal all round.

I'd say it would be close to 30 with add ons. Still not confident of reinvestment mind you.

The * in the board are quick to sell but take an age to buy.

We are a stepping stone and so will Brighton be for young Matt. He'll be in a squad challenging for titles two seasons from now and those sell-on percentages will probably net us close to what we get in cash up front now.

Bit off topic, but always wondered how the initial contact between clubs would go.
How would Brighton for example, go about contacting Celtic. Is there a contact database all clubs add details to?

Be interesting to see how he does in the EPL he isn't the finished article for me.. still needs to work on aspects of his game.. and isn't particularly quick..

He's been great for us and has huge potential but think it's good business for us..

Lack of pace is the glaring weakness but better players than Matt have had less pace & played at the very top. Could sharpen up his finishing but that’s defo improved a lot since he first came in. Crossing as well maybe? He isn’t far off the full package imo, difficult to find obvious weaknesses in his game aside from pace.

That celebration is one of my all-time favourite Celtic moments. I need to see him doing it again stood in front of that arrogant hun manager.

We should also be adding the homegrown tax on like clubs in England do.

£25m got Oliver Skipp should be the benchmark and charge accordingly from there

I am kind of resigned to him leaving but what hurts the most is that we know the board won't reinvest the money into the team

Sad to see how much spending power a club like Brighton has compared to us….
