He had a release clause at MK Dons, not sure we had to negotiate anything with them.

It'll be nice to watch it in the bank all season.

He went 6 months without a club between leaving Fulham and joining MK Dons, maybe that's what you're thinking of.

If it's Brighton then I'd be surprised if it was 28 million Euros, likely to be £28 million.

Part of me hopes we reject it and ask for £30 million, but if they have offered that I think he's gone sadly

Brilliant business if we get 28m for him.

Can't wait to see us hang on to it and hang on to it.

Hope Riley McGree enjoyed his extra £5k per week and life in the championship after knocking us back.

Meanwhile O’Riley has been MOTM in the champions league, won 5 trophies and will move to a much bigger contract than McGree has for nearly £30m 2 years later.

That’s why players will want to come to Celtic.

Forget the night we beat Barcelona, Ange’s nighttime demolition of the Huns or that roar on Champions League nights; I bet in years to come, we’ll all be reminiscing about the electric atmosphere right after the quarterly interest hits the club’s account.

It's the financial model of the club and there wouldn't have been a place for oriley if we never sold players on in the first place. It's a good result albeit he should be appropriately replaced

It’s a good result as long as we properly invest a chunk of the proceeds in our first team squad and do it well. Neither history nor our current/recent scouting department suggest that will happen.

Pretty sure O'Riley out earns him at the moment anyway.

    Very true unfortunately.

Have we even spent the Jota money yet? Upon looking, it looks like most of it has been. All on punts and projects though. This makes very grim reading:

    https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/cel...371/plus/?saison_id=2023&pos=&detailpos=&w_s=

I find it funny how the board have hoodwinked vast numbers of the support into believing that we can only spend money after a big sale, i.e. O'Riley.

We have millions and millions sitting in the bank gathering dust. We could spend a significant sum of money (for us) without selling any more players. Could probably do the same in the next few windows, too.

    Tragic.

Exactly. It's just dumb. I mean at least say you're staying until January FFS. There's never any plan to build, it's always fractured and bitty. Grrrr :censored:

We've already denied him a move to Spain and now Italy. He wants to go

The Italian media reported we had a figure we wanted them to meet which increased as their bids did, pretty straightforward?
