They're not improving our xi. Although, Armstrong is already at his level. He's never making an impact here.

The other two would be long term investments, meaning we'd have to loan them out.

I'm not against signing them. I actually want to sign them and loan them out ASAP but we need first team starters now.

    Minimum of four signings needed.

    If
O’Riley goes, Watson and Miller would be two signings I’d make within 48 hours.

They’d both go straight on to the bench and they’d see first team action almost immediately - assuming Bernardo fills that vacant CAM role.

If we can shift either Palma permanently or Yang on loan I would sign Armstrong as that 4th choice winger. If he can tear it up for Killie then he’ll do well at Celtic.

Understandably though, we need 3 or 4 players shifted first, and LCB and LB are priorities one and two.

Doing well for Killie and doing well for Celtic are completely different.

For every Stuart Armstrong there’s a GMS, Ciftci etc.

Signing Watson and Miller and loaning them out would be smart business, but we’d need another quality CM to come straight into the team/squad.

Armstrong is nowhere near good enough for us.

Celtic have stood firm this summer so far with Matt O'Riley's future still up in the air.

The midfielder has been at the centre of the Hoops' transfer window speculation so far when it comes to potential sales with the club still waiting on their £25million plus asking price being met by any club. Atalanta were the main source of interest in the playmaker with as many as five bids knocked back for the Dane.

And now the Serie A club - who won last season's Europa League - seem to finally have given up after signing an alternative in Lazar Samardžić from Udinese who is a similar type of player.

That could mean Brighton are the only club in for O'Riley after Southampton boss Russell Martin hinted they'd been priced out of the running already this summer.

Should O'Riley leave there are two players believed to be waiting in the wings for a potential move to Glasgow. Arne Engels remains on the shortlist albeit there are hurdles needing cleared to make that happen including Ruben Vargas, like Engels also at Augsburg, has to stay at the club to avoid losing two number 10s.There's also the matter of an asking price close to £10million for the Belgian.

Celts have two strikers now in Kyogo and Adam Idah with the latter being one of their most expensive signings ever, but Brendan Rodgers made it clear he wanted a three-pronged attack for the coming season. And one attacker who Football Scotland has been told the club are keeping an eye on is Irishman Aaron Connolly. The 24-year-old is available on a free having recently played for Hull City and is one they're monitoring.

Connolly had serious interest from MLS before their window closed but also has interested parties down south having turned out for his country as well as the likes of Brighton, Middlesbrough and Luton Town.

Meanwhile, Raheem Sterling's name was floated but Ally McCoist shot it down. He said: "Brendan knows him, but I think he'd see it as a step down. I don't think so - I think if he's leaving the country, he's going to Saudi Arabia".

Listening to a live Celtic podcast on youtube now and sometimes i just get amazed at how different other Celtic fans are to us being on here. There are people who genuinely want us to give Nat Philips another go. People who rather have Shankland than Idah as 2nd striker.

Nah, I need to know so I can steer clear.

I wouldn't believe for a moment that any Celtic fan claiming those two points was a legit Celtic fan.

Lots to do' on new Celtic recruits, says Rodgers

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers says "there's lots that we need to do" in the transfer market and would like two new midfielders if Matt O'Riley is sold.

Rodgers explained that nothing has changed with O'Riley's situation, since no club has yet matched Celtic’s asking price for the 23-year-old.

"I haven't heard anything different than last week so there’s nothing new to add," he said. "His mentality is phenomenal.

"He’s a player that's continued to grow and you see the confidence that he's playing the game with.

"I still think we need another player in that position. If he was to go, we'd need two more.

So far this summer, former loan players Adam Idah and Paulo Bernardo have returned on permanent deals, while Kasper Schmeichel has replaced Joe Hart in goals.

"I will need to speak to the board," said Rodgers on the prospect of recruits. "There's a lot of work going on and there’s lots that we need to do, but for now it's really about the players that are here.

"They're doing a brilliant job. We know where we want to strengthen and I'm pretty hopeful that we can do that.

"I’m an experienced manager who knows that you need a strong squad as it’s a long season. Come September, there are more games and they're more intense. So we have to have a squad ready for that."

He's continued to be open about all of this and saying what we all want to hear.

The board need to back him here.

He's clearly not counting Bernardo as the "replacement" he wants another regardless, two if MOR leaves. Yet again telling the club publicly as well as no doubt behind the scenes.

As for the other positions and recruits, nothing changes from what he's said previous, except we are another week down and still nothing coming in that wasn't here last year.

    It's truly a pathetic window.
