I reckon he will get it done around the New Year when we are out of sight in the league.

Aye. It's no good playing through an injury....especially when he is targeted for rough treatment with very little protection from the officials.

He's been carrying this since Ange was here, two summers at least he could have gone under the knife to try and sort it after the season was done and hasn't, so think it's something he thinks he can just live with. He hasn't actually missed any games because of it has he? Subbed off once or twice as a precaution but always been straight back in the next match, probably just doesn't want to take a long layoff to recover from surgery if the injury itself isn't keeping him out long term.

Why didn’t he just get it done after the cup final if he needed it? Tin hat on here but doesn’t help himself going to ground easy.

If this is going to be a recurring issue, then we might need another striker in.
I am not entirely happy with Maeda playing as striker, and definitely not Johnston.

I think we need a decent prospect in as a third option and then potentially look for a 6 month loan in January to let Kyogo have the surgery but not need to be rushed back.

Because after the final if it took him into this season injured he’s the only striker at the club, except Oh who was always on the way out. He’s had the problem with his shoulder the full time he’s been here, he has and will play through it. But 4 years at least now with the issue, for his own good he’ll need to sort it, it’ll be getting worse the longer it’s dingied and just ‘managed’

You obviously don’t read a lot of @jvalin posts. Honestly, have a look: like a compendium of things you’d never expect a Celtic fan to think or say.

Brendan Rodgers has given an update on Kyogo's fitness and his long-standing shoulder issue.

We have just given him that little bit of extra rest. He has dealt really well with it for a number of years. He's had this (problem) not just with Celtic but in his time back in Japan. There are times he gets a knock on it and doesn't feel quite well so I felt we didn't need to risk it on this one.

He didn't feel 100 per cent with it either so we have taken him out of this game and will see where he is at the beginning of the week

He should have got it sorted the day last season finished and he’d be on the mend currently.

Ironically we probably would have had Idah in the door earlier and for a couple mill less into the bargain.

Greg Taylor was out for ages when he had his shoulder surgery done. For a large chunk in the first half of Ange's first season, when we had Juranovic playing out of position at LB and Ralston on the right, so if that gives an indication of how long it might take to be ruled out for - IF Kyogo chose to have the operation.

Speaks volumes about the dedication to the cause though, that Kyogo is wanting to still be here and put in at this crucual part of the season, with the League going and Champions League around the corner.

Best case scenario, we can get the league wrapped up nice and early, so Kyogo can get it done then. But that is a long way off and a lot of football to be played in that time between now and then, so hopefully BR can manage his workload correctly, such as at the weekend there, when he isnt needed keep in cotton wool when we don't need it to be risked, especially now that we have Idah through the door and Maeda capable of deputizing when necessary also.

Now that’s it’s common knowledge about his shoulder and how easily it can aggravated, don’t be shocked if we see opposition defenders trying to do just that early in games. The one last week at Easter Road was a nothing challenge really and that was enough.
