Depends if anyone else is leaving, we already have Iwata and Holm who struggle for minutes and would need to be alongside an Engels level signing too.

I only ever see him against us. If he can score goals like this then I'm all for it.

He's played well the last 12 months or so. £1m fee and he steps in to become a decent squad filler.

However, there's literally nothing stopping us going out and getting Engles and Tessmann and going up a few levels, even with O'Riley leaving.

I have a feeling that Bernardo is the O'Riley replacement and we'll get McCowan in to supplement it.

Genuinely wouldn't put it past us.

People say that the 'monitoring' patter is awful and then Celtic do * like this.

We're never going to have 4 guys that want to play every game though for 2 positions, one would just leave the next window if he never played enough.

It's like trying to keep a Giakoumakis as your back up striker, you could if you were like Benfica and could pay him £50k a week but for us players could be playing and earning the same or more money elsewhere.

I wouldn't be worrying about our midfielder numbers too much , it's highly likely hatate will be away in January or next summer. It would definitely be proactive to get mccowan, Engels and potentially tessman in. Seems quite on the tessman front however

    I agree to a point.

There is a lot of games to be played this season and there will be lots of injuries in the middle of the park.

I'm not against signing McCowan, I'm just angry that the board have a history to suggest that we'd end up with Bernardo being O'Riley's replacement. It's a kicker when we could have options of McGregor, Tessmann, Engles, McCowan, Hatate, Bernardo.

McCowan would be a decent squad player who would be a bit more forward/attack minded than the likes of holm/iwata/Bernardo.. someone with some fresh ideas when we are struggling to break down a spl team at home come 60/70mins.. at a mill it's a good signing.

Luke McCowan also played as a winger as well as a midfielder before he came to Dundee not sure how good he was as a winger but he could do well for Celtic as he is a tough midfielder and scores as well he could surprise the fans if he is given a chance .

Think he's like a bit of a Haksabanovic type wide player, were he can beat a guy and is creative but he's not got the extra yard of pace a wide player has, doubt he'd really play there for us although in big games like seeing out wins away to the huns and whoever you'd put him on a wing before Yang or Mikey Johnston maybe even Palma to be more solid defensively for 20 minutes.

Are we actually interested in Tessman? Seems like one of those tenuous links that happens every summer that we end up clinging onto until being ultimately disappointed

For me he is more like a Hatate type of player, very creative and not afraid to try something out the ordinary, works hard off the ball but isn’t the most effective defensively although he does ok in possession regains in the final third. Is also a good set piece taker.

I am not saying he is at Hatate’s level but that player capable of producing something a bit special, domestically anyway.

Aye I actually feel like he plays a lot like Ryan Christie, similar wiry build, energetic, creative but he is probably a wee bit smarter and less of a reckless player as Christie, more neat and tidy, doesn't try to constantly shoot from distance or create goals from anywhere he passes and moves a bit more like Hatate.

I've felt watching him for Dundee that he'd be a good player for us and probably would even get a game for like Leeds, Norwich, West Brom and those types of Championshio teams. Like he looks way too good for Dundee and even too good to be playing for Aberdeen or Hearts.

The huns should really have signed him, if the huns were smart they'd have signed him right at the start of the window, with them being skint and him being cheap and fitting into their wages he'd have improved them a lot compared to Lawrence, Diomande, Cantwell and whoever - got a much better allround game than them and is probably more creative and better defensively than them all. If their fans are happy with Barron they'd probably think they signed the new De Bruyne or Bernardo Silva with McCowan :56:
