Celtic will play Hibernian in the last 16 of the Premier Sports Cup following today’s draw.

Brendan Rodgers’ men face a game against the Edinburgh side at Celtic Park, aiming to book a place in the next round of the competition.

The Hoops, who won the Scottish Premiership and the Scottish Cup last season, will get the defence of their league title underway next Sunday, August 4, with a home game against Kilmarnock.

The squad are heading home after a pre-season tour of the United States, where they played friendly matches against DC United, Manchester City and Chelsea.

They will return to Lennoxtown this week for more work ahead of the new campaign kicking off.

Celtic’s Premier Sports Cup tie against Hibernian is scheduled for the weekend of August 17/18. Further fixture details to follow.

Hibs isn't a bad draw, I can't see us losing that.

Tough round of 16 draw but thankfully its at home as we have certainly had some bad performances away in recent seasons.

True mate, i don’t think anyone will come close to us this season anyway. 8/1 to win the treble on bet 365 have stuck a ton on it.

Probably same starting line up as last weekend except maybe Maeda in for Forrest and hopefully Palma and Idah make the bench as well.

I’d like to see a couple changes for the cup games, not much but say sinisalo ralston and maybe bernardo to start and give them minutes

Aye wouldn't mind the seeing Sinisalo, Holm and co getting a start although could see the argument for keeping a settled side this early in the season. Hope Anderson gets some minutes off the bench for his pre season efforts.

Be interesting to see if Sinisalo has been promised Cup games..

But, don't think we'll see many changes.

If Idah hasn't signed yet then play Maeda through the middle and start Forrest.

Has Anderson been making the bench in the league? And I’d rather change it up a bit that’s what cup games are for I think once it’s only a couple changes and keep the core of the team we should be all good

Nah not yet, he's only been going with 2 defensive subs (Ralston and Welsh) presumably because Scales can cover LB if needed.
