We need to continue to reduce the personnel we have.

4 more in(LB, CB, CM, Winger) and I would honestly be happy to see another 6 leave(Lagerbielke, Kobayashi, McCarthy, Kwon, Johnston, Yang)

We have already seen 6 leave(Hart, Siegrist, Lawal, Oh, Haksa, Vata) and 3 loans out the door currently(Bernabei, Tilio, Murray)… we need to see more movement out the door.

100%.. as I've said we need a smaller squad with more quality. All names you've mentioned should be punted.. surprised if Lagerbielke, Kobayashi and Johnston still here end of window.. been interest in all 3. Welsh too but as people have stated probably keep for homegrown quota

Welsh is definitely being kept because he’s homegrown. We should have allowed him the chance to speak to interested clubs when it came in. Having 6 centre backs and really only 1 of them is good enough to start consistently is a huge issue for me. Kobayashi shouldn’t even be at our club.

I suspect teams want to loan the likes of Johnston, Lagerbielke and Kobayashi and there are rumours we have paid off McCarthy. I think we probably want to try and sell them, though. How Johnston hasn’t gotten a move down south after performing pretty well is staggering to me. Interested to see what sort of figure we are asking for because there was rumours we wanted £5m for him. Genuinely would be happy to see half of that.

Had our pants pulled down a bit with that fee but good to see us finally spending some money.

I honestly think it’s a fair price. We kick up * when people undervalue our players.

He’ll come in and do well, still young and exactly the type BR likes up top. Delighted he’s signed, gives Kyogo a break but also think it brings out the best in him when he’s competing for the position

Agree with everything you say there. I was not big on his signing in January on loan but he proved me and many others wrong and was a major player in winning us the double. He showed he can produce in big games and as you say he clearly really wants to play for us and I also agree with you that I can see him staying longer term at Celtic. If he does well the next couple of seasons I can see that happening as lets face it as much as he may improve under Rodgers he is not going to a level like a Matt O'Riley so he knows this is his big stage. If that happens then the 8.5m will be money well spent and there will be no sell on fee down the road.

He will although he might have talked to Johnston about playing that role this season as well.

Im ok with the permanent signing, but honestly, 8.5m is mental to me.

Is it a going rate? Probably.

Could we have got better for the same price? I think so. Easily in fact.

    * it. He's here.

But once again it proves a central flaw in our transfer policy / scouting; we refuse to spend real money on a player without a loan trial first. I understand that its financially prudent, and in terms of signings (CCV, Jota, Bernardo etc) is successful, but how many top class players have we lost out on due to clubs saying NO to this proposal.

The scouting set up needs addressed as a matter of absolute urgency.

Miovski's a better player. More goals at a worse club in the same league. He's two years older, granted, and Idah could develop with regular game time. However, I don't really see Idah as having the same natural instincts as a striker, I don't see him being as good as Kyogo either frankly.

I agree with you that there are better players out there for £8.5m and that the Celtic scouting team appear to be either incapable or disinterested in finding them. That annoys me also. The loan-to-buy model is effectively a workaround for not just replacing the scouting team with individuals whose decisions we can have confidence in.

    Bernardo isn't pacey really.

Definitely need a more physical midfielder who has that pace too if we can get ir.

I think £8m is fair for him. 8.5 + 1 in add ons and a 15% sell on, that’s steep. Can clearly see why we’ve stalled on this one for so long. Still not an awful deal for us and we’ve got a player we know will do the business when the chips are down. He’s got a very high ceiling. Really excited to see him back in the hoops.

I would add as well that if Idah has the same kind of impact over the next couple of seasons as he had the last 6 months of last season then he will have proved to be a good buy and justified his fee.

The high fee seems more like desperation because no other target could be identified. If Norwich are asking so much it explains why this has took so long, clearly we didn't value him that high.

Even the new Norwich manager didn't see him as a starter and he won't be for us. Sure I'm happy to see us spend something but a good recruitment team could of got better alternatives. 9m I would be hoping for a player who would instantly improve the team every game.

and if he contributes for us the next couple of seasons like he did the second half of last season he will have proved to be worth the fee.

Im more worried that this spells the end of Kyogo... A far superior goal scorer.

No way Rodgers is pushing through an initial 8.5m without him being a starter.... Which again, has me worried.

Idah is decent striker, no more no less, and yes, i do think Miovski is a better player, which we could've got for half the price.

Ive been wrong about strikers before, Scott McDonald, Leigh Griff, Giakomakis... But 9.5m all in for an English Championship striker? Its * mental to me.

At 9.5m im expecting a young, ready made goal scoring machine, ready for Europe and set to be moved on for 3-4 times in the price in a few years.
Not a Norwich bench warmer they deem a future prospect.

Weve had our pants pulled down on this.
