£8.5m is mental and a significant overvaluation. Why have we been spending weeks prevaricating if that's going to be the fee? It seems like they successfully negotiated us upwards. Should have told them to take a run and jump.

For any Celtic fans whining that we paid too much for him…Welcome to the real world. If you want a player like Idah from an English club you are going to have to pay at least the £8.5 million we have paid for him. Miovski leaves Aberdeen for nearly £7 million today, happy to see Aberdeen getting a decent and respectful price for him.

would people prefer we blew £9 million by paying £3 million each for 3 duds? We have a track record for that type of signing, especially when it comes to strikers. Idah was probably only a couple of good performances for Norwich away from having a £20 million asking price. If they can punt Olly Mc-*-Burnie down there for £20 million they could certainly do it for Idah. We got the man our manager wanted, if we had let this one slip through our fingers, Rodgers would have rightly been wondering why he came back to Celtic.

I'd prefer we spent £8.5m on a player worth £8.5m or more. The idea that you can't get better for less is ludicrous, especially given Miovski went for £1.5m less literally today. We have pursued one player and had to pay over the odds to land him, it's as simple as that.

£9.5M isn’t a lot these days remember. A lot for us but not in the grand scheme of things. He’s was the difference last season and probably the best striker in the league second half of season. We can cry for £20-30m for all our players who do well up here then say someone’s else player is only worth £3/4m. Aberdeen just sold their striker for £7m.

 

If it makes people feel better we could pretend we weren't able to knock off any money for Bernardo and so got him for £5.5m and Idah, for £6.5m...

 

Rodgers wants him, he's gonna sign, that's the main thing. It is equally bizarre and infuriating that we've waited this long. Doesn't appear we've saved anything whatsoever in the fee.
