Sinisalo is the long term option for Kasper. We have a long term plan for that position. Sinisalo was a highly rated goalkeeper down south and comes with the aim of becoming better while learning from Kasper. We haven’t got a like for like replacement because Kasper is a far better keeper than Hart was and I loved Joe Hart. Kasper has far more to his game, especially with the ball at his feet. We have strengthened the goalkeeper position, absolutely no doubt about it.

Oh was 3rd choice. Genuinely, did he play a single minute after Idah came in? I don’t think he did. Can’t be bothered going back and looking at all the games between February 1st and the end of the season but he definitely didn't even making the squads in the final 9 games. No idea about the rest. We ran with 2 strikers for the majority of the time under Ange too. Kyogo/GG and then Kyogo/Oh.

    4 solid signings in tbf..

Another 5 would be ideal.. LB, LCB, Winger, CM & 3rd ST option.. would settle for 4 but with LB and LCB absolutely essential.

Aye we're slowly (very slowly) getting there :giggle1:

Still confident we'll get all of the above in..

With Idah coming we are pretty much back to where we started so let's improve the squad now.

In a better position for me.

Getting players like Siegrist, Lawal, Haksa, Oh, McCarthy and Vata out there door has significantly reduced the size of the squad. With Hart retiring, we have seen 7 players leave the club. Both our main loan players, Bernabei and Tilio seem to be performing well at their respective clubs so hopefully we see a permanent solution for them at the end of their loans. That’s 9 currently out the door, with the potential to send another 4 out on loan.

We have only brought in 4, when Idah signs. So, we are reducing the size of the squad, trying to add more quality. Now we need to get the balance of the squad right. We have too many centre backs and too many wingers. Could lose a couple of centre backs, bring one in. Lose a couple of wingers, bring one in. Need to continue to reduce the squad size and upgrade the quality.

We are, slightly, better than last season once Idah is in.

Schmeichel is an upgrade on Hart and Sinisalo is a massive, massive upgrade on Siegrist. We've essentially lost our third choice ST in Oh and that's it.

Bare in mind I'm in no way saying we are where we need to be, but getting Idah sorted is a step in the right direction.

    LB next mr Celtic

We only had a third choice striker because we brought Idah in. Idah didn’t replace anyone. Oh was deemed not good enough and it was clear Rodgers wanted him moved on, which is why I think we just wanted him out the door as soon as he knew we could get a decent fee for him. We ran with 2 strikers for the whole of Angeball, too.

FWIW, I know Rodgers has stayed he would like to have a third striker available and has mentioned soundbites to that in the past but I’d rather my 3rd choice striker was flexible and could play all positions, which makes me think he will go with Maeda. Or, get rid of Johnston and Yang and bring in someone like Kvistgaarden.

If we only upgrade on one other position the rest of the window it MUST be a CB.

Taylor is better than most give him credit for but he does need help.

Idah will be a good signing but at the same time that fee is absurd

We will sign at least another 3. LB, CB and CM to replace O’Riley will definitely be added. Not sure about a winger/forward coming in though. Think that’s unlikely.

What an absolutely bonkers fee. Glad he is back but really feels like Celtics transfer strategy is all over the place.

Still seems like a mountain of work when we're doing deals at this pace. We do tend to do a lot of business in the closing stages of summer windows so we'll see.

It feels like a big overpay. He'll probably do ok based on last season, but I'm not at all convinced that we couldn't do better for quite a bit less if we had a properly run scouting department.

We were always going to be forced to overpay given no loan to buy + English market (Norwich will want to make a promotion tilt which is obviously worth 100m in itself).

    Dont talk * :56::56::56:

    The strategy has always been:

    Manager wants Idah
    Norwich want x amount
    Celtic willing to pay X
    Negotiate, negotiate, negotiate
    See who blinks first....
    Celtic win.

    EVERYCUNT STOP YER * MOANING!

    WANT PLAYERS IN
    WANT MONEY SPENT

    Wait......

What do you mean we're getting a player in and have spent that????...

    Hadn't noticed that result. :giggle1:

In any case, we were always going to have pay through the nose for a striker who had finally picked up form.. (and Norwich probably wouldn't have minded to keep).
