The fact he would be our second biggest outlay says more about our transfer policy than anything else. We spent £5m on Ajeti. Idah is absolutely streets ahead of him, and he is only 23 so has plenty scope to develop and get better.

He also showed plenty composure on many occasions and helped us win big games. This board seemed to have programmed fans into thinking that £5m is basically our limit for signing players these days. In this day and age, you don’t get much for £5m. Of course there are exceptions and gems out there, there is also a plethora of utter *, as we have found out time and time again when we * £1-3m on a raft of players hoping to strike gold. Pay Norwich the money and get him in. We know what we are getting.
