He played today like a man full of confidence.

I do worry about what we’ll look like without him though tbh. He’s at the centre of everything when we play well and his creativity won’t be easy to replace.

Liking rodgers comments. Basically saying that matt is happy to stay unless a 30mill plus bid dont come in. And also confirms that we will strengthen in the coming weeks

How good is it to see him celebrate so much with others when they score.

    Seems very popular with everybody.

So easy to like him, exceptional talent, looks a likeable guy.

He's at the stage now where he's multiple levels above the opposition and most of his teammates.

Would be amazed but extremely happy if we could hold onto him for another 6-12 months.

For me he's approaching greatest midfielder to wear the hoops i've watched, * unbelievable on and off the ball in every area of the park.

    The Van Dijk of midfielders.

I still think there's a very good chance we hold onto him for another year.

I don't think any of the clubs bidding are going to get close to £25 million, let alone £30 million, and O'Riley is clearly not the type of player who'll try and force his way out, plus he might want to play in the new CL format, something he won't get with Southampton (And Atalanta aren't bidding anywhere close to what we want imo)

I think he will stay as well, for us his value will only go up so theres no point in selling him and for him he seems happy here will win more trophies and has 8 more CL games, maybe even 10 if we do well.

Could leave here at 24 with who knows 10 or something trophies won, 20+ CL games played in move wherever even to someone like Newcastle and probably by 26 still get to a top team from there with plenty of his peak years left.

He stays and has the champions league to show how good he is. Honestly think after that he goes to one of the top teams either in England or Europe. He will have his pick. 1 more year

I'm not getting my hopes up.

I think the longer it goes the more likely it is someone could slap a 25-30m bid in. It'll need to be an EPL side though.

Gallagher moving to Atletico means a move is now highly likely unfortunately, he’s in that mix.

If he stays this summer I think he's gone in January.
But judging from yesterday both him and Hatate looked up for this season.

I would be amazed if we keep him to be honest. All in all though his attitude has been superb. A lot of other guys in his position would be throwing everything into getting a move

My concern is not if he is sold but who have we got lined up to replace him.

Aye, I think he'll stay. Not many clubs are spending big right now and we won't budge from his valuation. He isn't the type to kick up fuss and I think he'll see another 8 games in the CL as a chance to make an even bigger name for himself.

That's how I feel about it too. O'Riley is a joy to watch and would love to keep him forever. Naturally, we all recognise he will move on probably sooner rather than later and we shouldn't begrudge him a big move, he has more than earned that but we all know how this will go when he does move on. We will look to replace Matt with a player that costs us in the region of £2m-£4m and that isn't good enough. Let's just say we take a £20m agreement then I don't think it is unreasonable to reinvest 50% of that. I do not necessarily disagree with the model the board have in place but have every issues with its execution. If our model is to buy potential and sell for big profit that is fine but let's evolve the model, when we take a profit get braver with the investment.

For that reason alone, I'd happily hold onto O'Riley for as long as we possibly can because simply put, whoever replaces him will not come close in terms of quality.

Look at the lb position since Tierney left - 5 years ago. Sold him for £25m if I remember correctly. Since then we signed bolingoli, Gutman, Laxalt, Taylor and Bernabei. We must have spent around £6M-£10M in total on those players and not all of us feel we have a lb of the required standard to this day. Taylor is decent granted but for me AJ is levels above him on the other wing bakc position. But why did we not just got spend £10M on one lb as soon as Tierney left - we still bank £15M and our chances of hitting success on a £10m lb will be far higher than spending £2/3M multiple times over a 4 or 5 years. All these lbs we have bought will not provide a profit either.

Sometimes this model feels like right idea being executed by the wrong board
