Something along the lines of 'some fans may not understand...not a case of just identifying a player and signing him...lots of moving parts...we'd all love business done early but not always possible...players being at the euros affects the speed in which clubs can operate' etc etc. You know, all the things a few of us understand but a lot refuse to acknowledge.

My favourite bit was his laugh when he said 'the board know this', referring to us needing quality. Pure condescension in a way only Brendan can land.

Honestly that's not what I took from it at all.

He referred again to the need to bring in quality and that hasn't happened so far. He referred to it constantly before the last window as well so he is deliberately setting his expectations in a way that when they aren't met it is obviously not due to him.

In pointing out the usual negativity around transfer windows he wasn't taking the * out of negative fans. He was noting the general trend of poor transfer windows without passing on blame to any individuals.

If anything Rodgers is only strengthening what the so called doom mongers have been saying. Squad weekend than it was last season and need to get players in. He done everything except stop short of publicly telling the board to stop * around.

 

What about last summer?

As I’ve said before, for some of our fans there will always be an excuse as to why we can’t sign players. Next year it will be because we have qualifiers. Year after that, World Cup, and so on.

Remember when we left ourselves with 1 left back from January, and he is still our only left back basically. Just like we only have 1 striker and the league starts in less than 2 days.

Remember when you were going on all last summer and then again in January about us bringing in quality, then had to backtrack after the January window closed? I’d be keeping my puss shut after making such a rip roaring * if myself if I were you.
