The lack of signings so far has me assuming that we are indeed looking to bring in players of a higher standard. First 11 ready as opposed to more projects. That being the case I can only think of 3 reasons they aren't here yet. 1) we aren't offering enough in transfer fees, player wages or both. 2) the selling club is wanting to make a signing to replace the player before he leaves. 3) the player is holding-out until the end of the window hoping for a (to their mind)better offer. The question is how long do the club wait before moving-on to players further down the list?

The painter told me we are not hoarding cash and we’re close to signing a Portuguese guy. He also said two other signings are close but not definite yet. You should get him back around to the gaf mate he will tell you everything. He said not to worry big couple of weeks ahead :BR1:

It's exactly the window many predicted so far and it's doesn't exactly take a genius to get that prediction correct.

It's a simple fact that past behaviour is the by far the best indicator of future behaviour.

If you keep doing the same thing over and over and expect a different outcome, that's the definition of insanity.
Something HAS to change to generate a different outcome.

5 days before the season kicks off any we haven't signed a single outfield player . Same squad as cup final minus the two involved in the winning goal . You would have shuddered at the thought 6 weeks ago but here we are . Actually * mental.

It's arrogance. It cost us in the lead-up to blowing 10 in a row and it will cost us again if we don't get our act together.

The huns are a mess, but they're not so much of a mess that the league is an inevitability. We're behaving like it is. That's not even covering trying to make a dent in Europe, which we won't without the necessary quality, regardless of what we try.

I genuinely think that we don't know what we're doing with transfers. Do we even have a head of recruitment?

    Spot on.

They are pish but the other 10 teams I'm the league are far worse than them. All they need to do is grind out results against the dross to make it competitive, that's all they did last season and looked favourites until they shat it in March. It's nowhere near the forgone conclusion some seem to think it is.

We don't have a head of recruitment but we have a guy there who for a number of years acted as a defacto director of football. Given how we operate would it suprise anyone if we've asked him or he's took it upon himself to lead it, given his "previous experience". The failure to get any deals over the line would suggest he's back in the role

Can't believe after last summers * show, the board are actually (how it looks at the moment) thinking of doing similar again.

Celtic's lack of ambition was there for all to see last Summer. It was at that point where I was officially 'done' with Desmond, Lawwell and Co. It was a disgrace.

We offloaded Jota for another record fee, brought Rodgers back, had another year of guaranteed CL football, had plenty of cash in the bank. We were in a really strong position despite Ange leaving. All we needed was a few key positions strengthened to have real a go in Europe.

What did we do? We ended up signing punts, loans and projects. Replacing quality with mediocrity. Didn't address any weak areas. The money we did spend was largely wasted, and we're currently trying to offload most of those signings on a permanent or loan.

Clearly nothing has changed in the last 12 months. We got the customary "Sorry, we tried" bullshit in January. It was another * show of a window, even worse than the Summer. In the end, we were very fortunate to win the league. While we deserved it in the end, we won it in spite of the board who did their best to * it up for us.

We see ourselves in a good position once again to kick on. Yet, here we are, days away from the new season kicking off - with zero outfield players signed. Still haven't addressed our glaring weaknesses, even though we've quite literally had a year to prepare for it. More cash rich than ever. Guaranteed CL football again (not for long though).

Whichever way you slice it, it's a shambles. A sorry state of affairs and if we don't see drastic improvements in the next month, Desmond, Lawwell and whoever else is in charge of this mess need hounded out of this great, historic football club.

We cant allow a Dembele type situation with O’Riley and/or Hatate where they leave at the close of the window and not allowing any time to find a replacement.

The club needs to maintain some form of control on the situation and find replacements before they are allowed to leave or to issue clubs a deadline.

We need rangers for tv to invest in our league, give a challenge, old firm ( sorry ) rivalry etc, etc… The pittance we are paid for tv now will shrink even further if they went under. Maybe conspiracy thread talk but or our board are using a business model to keep generating money by just doing enough, who knows, but this window is * shameful considering our resources and what the fans would like to see as a competitive side in Europe.

Come on man we get a pittance for winning the league :giggle1:

We’ll get more for being in this year’s champions league than the whole of Scotlands tv deal put together

Ange signed Johnston during the 2022 World Cup knowing Juranovic would almost certainly leave the club after the World Cup. Johnston started vs the Huns in our very first game after the winter break. He was an immediate success partly because he joined early in the window and had time to train with the squad. Those were the days. I miss Ange tbh. :54:

I'm still hopeful we'll improve the squad but yeah I agree if the transfer window closes and we are still sending out the same 9 or 10 players onto the pitch every weekend as we did last season then there are people at the club that simply cannot continue to be employed.
