Id agree, I just don't know if that's a realistic scenario a week out from our first league game.

Even if they wanted to do that, and I doubt they do tbh, there's no guarantee he'd want to go. If I were in his shoes I'd probably hang on until my contract is up and leave on a free. He's likely to have better club options and a heftier signing on fee.

Given the length of time we've needed a left back I'd tend to agree with you

Stick him in the stand then. Any scenario that involves him not playing for us is still the ideal scenario

Agreed. Spain had a 16 year old in their team ffs. Paul McStay's Celtic debut was at 17 (season 81/82) then he became a regular in the team the next season. Would he get that chance today?

If he is to stay here (either instead of going out on loan or walking for free next summer), we need to give him minutes.

There's no reason why we're not giving game time to youngsters when we're 3-0 up at HT or in early rounds of cup games.

He should be 100 our second choice left back for the year. If that means bueno in then Taylor needs to go this window. Otherwise Anderson should be back up to Taylor

I'm fine having three left backs, we can afford it.

I'd only use Taylor if Bueno is a flop though. Anderson should be second choice behind Bueno in most match days though.

So if bueno isn't a flop you make Taylor now third choice behind bueno and anderson? If so that's hardly motivating for the squad making a dope out of Taylor

I get that we need to upgrade on taylor...but he isn't * every game. He's a good wee player but we just need another couple of levels up when it comes to bigger games.
Both he and scales are dreadful together in these games

    Couldn't give a * tbh.

Taylor could go next summer for free. He should always be our left sided Ralston. Ralston knows his role and if a younger player with better potential comes through, he'll leapfrog him in the pecking order. If AJ gets injured, I'd expect Ralston to step up with the youngster still getting a decent amount of game time.

Taylor needs to accept that he is probably going to be third choice next season at the latest, or he'll have to move on.

    That's what he should be.

Doctors differ, patients die. Taylor has been a limited but good servant to the club. Either way if bueno comes in and Taylor stays Anderson will be getting very limited game time bordering on zero.

Anderson is better than Taylor so I don’t see why he shouldn’t be ahead of him in the pecking order. I think we do need some quality there and a bit more experience this window to come in and I’d like to see Anderson as back up/competition to the left back. Be good to keep Taylor around for the dressing room etc but if he goes I’ll wish him luck as he’d be an expensive 3rd choice.
I’m not sure if this will be the case though as they might want anderson to get as many minutes as possible this season and with another left back coming in it won’t be possible here and they’ll look to loan him with Taylor being back up to the new left back.

My point is that Anderson shouldn't be getting next to no game time regardless of who is here next season.

Are we saying Anderson is better than Taylor already?

I can't agree with that if so.

Will he be? We won't know unless we play him

Meanwhile Football Scotland understands young left-back Matthew Anderson is to be allowed to leave the club on loan this summer with League One outfit Reading understood to be keen.
