I'd be happy with an exit for Welsh (I think he's mince) and an entrance for McKenna, who is a massive upgrade on him.

That being said we STILL need another CB in, as well as the fabled LB unicorn.

McKenna will want three times Welsh's wage.

Is McKenna three times the player?

I get it's an upgrade but both would be third choice at best at the start of the season. Well, if we bring in an actual partner for CCV.

In fairness they should all be punted, none of them will be regulars here and are just wasting wages and squad places

I think a loan would likely mean a better sale price down the road. If he has a good season with a Belgian team then someone will pay money for him.

Nothing against the guy, but he's not up to the standard we need.

Aye time to move him on I think, tries his heart out but has been pretty injury prone and just can't seem to hit the standard we need. Time for an Academy player to take his homegrown spot for Europe and mibbes push for some first team mins.

That's probably why it wouldn't work.

McKenna is an upgrade, but certainly not, as you say, three times the player and three times the wage.

McKenna simply won't be getting his wage with us, or anybody else I'd imagine. But if a deal can be done, I would do it.

Aye, I'd agree. I'd be fine with around £17.5k a week for McKenna to replace Welsh. He is an upgrade on him and we do have the money to give a third choice center back that size of wage.

Tbh he's not going to get much more than that elsewhere.

I think McKenna would be an upgrade on both Welsh and Scales. If we sign him, I'd expect him to be a starter alongside CCV.

100% shouldn't be first choice partner of CCV if he joins.

We need to sign someone else to do that.

More than happy to have him join but only if his wages aren't above £20k and he's a bench player, not an automatic pick.

I doubt we'll sign 2 centre halves mate. If we sign him, chances are he'll be a starter.

    For instance:

    left footed: McKenna > Scales
    right footed: CCV > Welsh
    either footed: Nawrocki

    sell/loan: Gustaf, Yuki

Seems like a balanced 5-man rotation at CB and an upgrade over what we had in the 2023/24 season.

Considering we could lose Lagerbielke, Welsh, Yuki, I don't see why we couldn't sign two center backs.

I don't want McKenna as a starter. I want someone like CCV. I'll settle for someone half as good as CCV to be his partner.

The challenge is trying to replace the likes of Lager Yuki and Welsh within our usual budget range. More likely you end up with more of the same. McKenna is free and could do a really good job if he stays fit. He's a significant step up from Welsh in my opinion

    100%

I'd still want someone to come ahead of him as well though.
