How can you separate out PL money from a club, stadium, training ground, academy that has had that money for 24 seasons since the PL started in 1992?

Saints have a large global fanbase (more Twitter, a large match-going fanbase of 30k+ averages, a modern stadium they are looking to expand to 40k+, a better training ground than Celtic and a very good academy.

So I'll ask again... What makes them 'diddy' in 2024?

Of all the clubs linked to O Riley, Southampton would be my last choice if I were him. Every other club are far bigger than Southampton including Celtic. The only thing Southampton can offer O Riley that maybe other clubs can't including us is more money and the only reason being for that is because of the ridiculous TV money that league gets.

Why don’t you make a Southampton thread somewhere else on the forum and stop spamming the MOR thread?

Mate, I'm no arguing with you, I know * all about Southampton. I'm pointing out that your posted started with "putting PL money aside" and then you go on to list things you've got that's been paid for with PL money.

Personally, I think the obscene amount of sky tv money pumped in to English football has destroyed competition in Europe, but that's maybe going off subject a bit.

Anyway, you want O'Riley, pay the money.

Southampton would be a * grim move for him, given the other clubs he’s been linked with.

A club who had a decent wee purple patch spell in the EPL years ago thanks to good recruitment.

They’ll be fighting relegation next season and if they stay up, they’ll be fighting it again the following season.

As long as we get what he is worth then he can go to wherever for me but moving to a EPL team, scoring a goal and running to fans only to be met with a wall of phones instead of mad limbs everywhere would make me want to play abroad.

Another 6 months would be great, but I'd want his replacement brought in now. Give the new guy some time to settle in and some CL and Zombie sub appearances.

We'd get maybe £7mil less, that we wouldn't even spend anyway.

You're saying, or what I got from your post was that these clubs haven't bid to an acceptable level, which is ironic given the Southampton bid was less than the Atalanta bid and it's well documented that O'Riley has already agreed terms with them.

Southampton may have a better training ground than Celtic. Okey that seals it. Good luck Matt

Imagine a Southampton fan trying to brag about fan bases to Celtic fans ffs . 30k attendances , congratulations . We are probably the best supported team on the planet in terms of genuine actual supporters. We would be named in that bracket on any objective discussion from neutrals . Highest ever attendance in European football ? Highest ever attendance in domestic football ? You guessed it Glasgow Celtic .

Also 30k attendances is a * unusual brag is it not . The epitome of a nothing club .

Bragging about an attendance of what is half that Matt plays in front of on the regular is a strange brag in fairness.

It’s like me going on a Real Madrid forum and bragging that we have one European Cup to try and get it up them . It’s * Celtic the last thing you want to try and call us out on is our support we are unmatched .

Been to Southampton a few times, got a couple of Saints mates..

Even they say the bid of £14m is pointless..

Speaking from experience, it a * Town, * club with a * support..

But if they bid close to what he worth we take their money and move on.

:56::56::56:. We’re no a diddy club, look at our Twitter followers. Spoken like a fan of a true diddy club.

Only a few years ago, when you were in the PL, the average attendance was 23k.

You have won 1 major honour in your history. You have floated around the 2nd and even 3rd tier of English football in recent times and have been scudded 9-0 not once, but twice in the last 5 years in league games. So yes, regardless of whether you have access to money that far outweighs a club of your size, and can afford to buy players from us, it doesn’t negate the fact that you are a diddy club.
