Brown was never a proper CDM to begin with. Like McGregor, he dropped back as he got older, and I seem to remember him chasing shadows more often than not.

I'm talking about a proper ball winner, i.e. Wanyama. A strong, physical presence that knows his position and does the dirty work. Brown wasn't that. Wanyama was, and even though he couldn't pass for * he was worth his weight in gold because he offered us genuine protection.

Anyway, I'm sure you would agree that McGregor isn't that and never has been. So the point still stands.

 

I think he's a cracking young player with fantastic awareness and a lot of potential to develop.

 

Npt overly sold on him, but the manager wants and believes in him, so that's good enough for me. Hopefully see him kick on a fair bit when it's confirmed, now that's he has his long term future confirmed.

If you think Broony didn't offer us protection I don't think football is for you.

 

I mean.. our stats in Europe over the last 12 years speaks for itself. I happen to think the lack of a proper CDM is a massive reason for that. That includes all of the years Broony was 'protecting' the back line.

We'll see what happens again this year. But if we don't address it expect we'll be having the same conversation again in January.

 

Got a feeling we would have been better off just paying the original €6 million quoted. If we sell him for £10 mil at some point we need to pay them £3 mil on top of the £3.5

 

They'd have wanted to include a sell on regardless of the upfront fee. It's how they tend to operate.

 

I don't think you can put that down to one man.

Brown was a terrific defensive mid.

If you stop speaking about Brown in this way, I will not look for you, I will not pursue you, but if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you and I will kill you.

 

There are far too many variables over a 12 year period in Europe to pin point it on one position or player.

2.5 or 3.5 is an absolute bargain today. I think he'll end up a starter as he progresses, but to even buy a impact bench player at that is a bargain now. Great bit of business.

 

Happy to get this deal over the line, finally. Taken longer than most of us would have wanted but I think it's a fair price for both clubs. Don't think it's a bargain, like some have suggested on here but happy enough with it.

Hopefully get him involved over the few days and back into the squad. Let's get the Idah deal agreed now.

Think he has been slightly under appreciated generally , done a lot of really good things last season . Was very important to retain him , brings energy and power .
