The Saudi comment was in response to your point about buying Celtic’s best players, it’s really just means you have money to burn.

In regards to Southampton being the 3rd biggest in the SPL, not with an SPL budget you wouldn’t. You wouldn’t be any bigger than Hearts/Hibs/Sheep.

Obviously it's about staying in the EPL !! It's one of the top leagues in the world & one of the most lucrative . Most clubs would rather compete at the highest level and play against top teams because top competion makes a club better. Celtic are a big club but will never be a top team while playing in the Premiership.

I don’t think you understand the definition of a diddy club. Just because a club has money, doesn’t mean they aren’t a diddy club.

We hold all the cards here.

I don't think it's beyond the realms of possibility that he stays for the UCL at least. He's not stupid and I don't think he will rush out the door unless it's a move that makes sense.

Premiums are paid in Jan, so it helps us. I honestly think we romp the league this year, so we can handle it mid season

Maybe. I mean I do get he'd help in the CL and that's a benefit, I just hate the idea of losing someone that important mid-season

It benefits us, massively. Plus it gives him another crack at the CL.

I think it could tbf. It would benefit us as well have him for champions league games and would benefit teams in for him as they can monitor him closely until then and in the big games. If he performs well in cl etc his price tag can go up also and get us more cash from it.

Normally this is true. But that mob are close to nuclear mode after spending everything they had over the last few years to catch us. We will run away with it this year.

Imagine the uproar if we’re in a Title battle and we sell a jewel in the crown in January.

It’s best for everyone he leaves this window, as much as it pains me to say it because he’s a quality operator and a gem of a guy to boot. However, we need to get better at the process of player sales to kick on to the next level. It has got better but we still lag massively behind the group of clubs we’re trying to be in amongst which is your Ajax, Benfica, Porto etc…

I would rather have him here another six months if we could. I don't think he would be upset and throwing his toys out the pram.

Ask him to give us another season and keep his options open come the winter, depending on how we do in Europe.

Maybe I'm trying to be the old optimist I used to be but I would like to think the lad would be happy to stay if we don't get our price for him. Best of both worlds. If he thinks he can progress under Brendan he is the type of player that will understand another 6-12 months at Celtic is not going to do him any harm.

I guess we will see. It's all about the size of the bids I suppose. I would like to think we wouldn't go below 30m and have told Matt that. Give him a wage in line with the that valuation and keep him a year and give him quality players to play alongside.

That's how this fitbaw thing works right?

    Maybe I'm naive.

I'd definitely rather he stayed another 6 months or so.

If he's in similar form then we are laughing and it will give us a significant chance of being ahead by January and a better chance in Europe.

Downside is his form could tail off or an injury could happen and you're risking his value going down. If we are talking from a business perspective.

And…not saying it would happen but imagine he had an absolute stinker ala Ntcham and his value plummeted. We’ve sold at the wrong time before and I don’t think we’ll make that mistake again. He’ll definitely leave this window
