This deal will be all about the sell on fee. If it's 20 or 30 percent you're laughing as Atalanta flog players for big money and Matt will get exposure at the business and of Serie A and European competition. Could easily make 10-20m extra in 2 years time. It's actually the model we are using as important as initial fee, all the bigger clubs in our range make it a key component of their strategy in the transfer market . It means you have big money investments/interests all once the player is long gone and yet another source of future income ( think Frimpong potentially ) .

 

He got a good mentality. Think he wants the club to make as much as possible, and that he have no problems at all staying for another year if the fees are not met.

14 mill? He could stay to the last year on his contract and we would still demand more than that.

 

£14m is an insult tbh, just a bid trying to unsettle a player and nothing more.

 

I think it’s inevitable that he does leave this window, so with that in mind, hopefully it’s sooner rather than later. Don’t know if I can handle the board and some fans saying it happened too late in the window for us to find a suitable replacement.

 

The club should have replacements lined up already & negotiations should have started.

I don't think he'll go, unless the board get a bit desperate towards the end of the window and take a cut price to get funds to cover any incomings.

There's a lot of things our board "should" have done over the years but have failed miserably. I know we should be used to it by now but we are eternal optimists for some reason and always believe we will get a load of signings in last minute

Shouldn't be. Shy of it happening come 11:45 on the last night, we should already have two or three potential replacements lined up and sounded out. So the day he does leave, we just make that final approach, confirm an offer and present an already understood contract to a player.
